Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Every second spent holding Kiernan in his arms was heavenly to Zeke. Warmth manifested between them, pleasant and welcomed, a type of connection admired between couples. Deep breathes were taken, serenity transcending over the dragon as he held his boyfriend close. Everything about this position summoned those calming emotions, making the dark-haired man wished for these moments whenever those haunting memories arrived to rue his day. The former general adored the sweet, long-haired kitsune captured in his arms.
[break][break]
Inside Zeke's chest, his heart fluttered wildly from their closeness, however, he was savouring the moment. The tight grip around Kiernan was designed to prolong their wondrous embrace. When those simple words of affection reached Zeke's ears, a broad smile stretched across the dragon's face. A beautiful trio of words which earned Kiernan a cordial squeeze and brief snuggle from the former general. Since their childhood, Zeke adored Kiernan, thus displaying the romantically affectionate side arrived naturally for the ice dragon; he was essentially waiting for the moment he could date the kitsune.
[break][break]
The parade was forgotten for the time being in favour of holding Kiernan and soothingly swaying while holding him. Lengthening the amount of time spent blissfully holding the kitsune was Zeke's goal, however, it would be interrupted by his boyfriend's question. Reservations were required for both their spontaneous spa idea, thus the pair were obligated to start their research before heading to the Pride Day Festivities. A soft sigh escaped Zeke's lips as he hesitantly pulled away from Kiernan, sparing a moment to stare at the man he loved.
[break][break]
"Yeah... I guess we should do that, eh?" He responded in a soft voice. "But... when we come home from the festivities, we should continue our hug... if that is okay?"
[break][break]
There were hopes Kiernan would agree to return to the delightful position once the festivities were enjoyed and concluded. Slowly, Zeke's fingers trailed down the kitsune's arm, promptly intertwining upon reaching Kiernan's hand. An affectionate smile conquered the short-haired man's countenance as he slowly turned to lead his boyfriend towards the computer. The bathroom door was opened with the dragon's free hand, an opportunity being taken to glance over his shoulder at his long-haired boyfriend. Once in the hallway, Zeke walked until reaching the office door, opening it to reveal a well-kept room.
[break][break]
The walls were painted a light beige while a few bookshelves lined the south wall. In the corner to their left-hand side was a light-coloured oak desk stationed beside a window with white curtains. Idly, the desktop computer waited for somebody to interact with it. Slowly, Zeke approached the computer, turning everything on before one-handedly typing in the password, even going through the effort of hitting caps lock as opposed to the shift key to avoid releasing Kiernan's hand. As the computer assessed the password provided, Zeke's gaze flitted to Kiernan, sparing a moment to admire his boyfriend.
[break][break]
Promptly, the screen with files popped up, a broad grin touching the dragon's grin as he gazed at his parent's chosen wallpaper. A collage of family photos, some even including Zeke and Kiernan during their childhood. Unlike the login screen, the home wallpaper of the computer was designed to show the importance of family.
Kiernan breathed somewhat faster as they hugged, everything he had ever wanted was in his grasp. Of course he knew the dangers that came with being with Zeke but right this moment he was in bliss and didn't want it ever to end. Because god, it likely was going to come crashing down later on the both of them, endless he gained the courage to end it? Never would he put in Zeke in danger, nor his family, for his own happiness. Of course now it proved he would end up hurting Zeke regardless of his choice of actions, all because he couldn't keep himself from kissing him in the first place. It was tearing his heart in half, the thought of hurting Zeke, the thought of keeping secrets from him, being reminded that lying wasn't allowed. Upon asking his question, their embrace had come to an end. Neither were in favor, but it was a must as means to make reservations for their spa later, whether they liked it or not, time wouldn't stop for them, or anybody else for that matter. He blushed as Zeke stared at him, unable to contain his embarrassment.
The way Zeke looked at him like that, it made his heart flutter. Oh how he dreamed of the day that Zeke would look at him like this, it was exactly as he imagined it to be. Zeke agreed and he couldn't help but smile slightly, blushing immensely at the idea of resuming their hug later. "Of course we can, I love your hugs." He answered, somewhat in a whisper, feeling embarrassed at sounding like he craved it, however it was the truth. He shivered as Zeke's fingers trailed down his arm before making contact with his hand, intertwining their fingers. Zeke had turned and opening the bathroom door for them before exiting to follow him down the hall until they reached the location of the computer. He breathed faster when Zeke had looked back towards him before they proceeded into the bedroom that contained the computer. The door was opened and they walked inside, Zeke had reached out to interact with the computer, using one hand so that he could hold his hand longer. Zeke had paused to look towards him and he felt his heart skip a beat, oh how he missed hugging Zeke. The screen popped up, showing his family as the wall paper.
Having been around the family long enough, he was well aware of the many photos on there, including some of them as children. The idea flustered him to this day, oh how he felt like such a nerd, well still felt like a nerd. Slowly he moved closer, having an idea of how Zeke could have him closer and type easier on the computer, assuming he would want to. "May I sit on your lap?" He had leaned closer to whisper in his ear. If granted permission, he would move to sit on Zeke's lap, releasing his hand before wrapping his arm's around Zeke's neck, loosely so that he could hug him, hoping he wasn't blocking the screen too much, to his surprise, Zeke adjusted him so that he'd be facing forward so that he could snuggle him from behind, he breathed faster, flustered as he enjoyed this.
Dreams became reality in these precious moments spent with Kiernan. The haunting thoughts from his PTSD temporarily went dormant, allowing the burden-ridden dragon to discover a few moments of peace with his long-haired boyfriend. Problems existed, alas, these few moments of blissful happiness allowed pure tranquility to transcend over Zeke. His children were safely brought to Lorsette, he miraculously managed to get Kiernan to become his boyfriend and finally there were notes of calmness in his life.
[break][break]
The environment around him was supposed to limit triggers until they gradually were handled through therapy sessions. With life events being positive, comfort was hastily discovered through these joyous moments. Something as simple as holding Kiernan's hand sparked intense shades of lovestruck satisfaction. A heat was shared between their conjoined hands, fingers weaved together through a spontaneous action of pure courage. Even as they stood together, preparing to release their hand-holding, Zeke was elated over having those few precious moments.
[break][break]
Quietly, Zeke's gaze flitted between the computer and his wonderful boyfriend. After all the anxieties over rejection, the dragon felt clingy towards Kiernan. For centuries, only dreams allowed the former TRS general to date the kitsune, however, reality finally allowed a relationship to manifest between them and, hopefully, flourish. Thoughts of continuing their embrace filled Zeke's mind, prompting a warmhearted smile as he softly squeezed Kiernan's hand. Lovingly, he gazed into his boyfriend's silver eyes, the toothy grin playing across his face.
[break][break]
Astonishment entered the joyous expression when Kiernan leaned in, whispering in his ear. Blood filled Zeke's cheeks, a thorough blush painting his cheeks a tint of red.
[break][break]
"Yeah... you can," he answered softly. "Besides... then... I can hold you."
[break][break]
A simple question about sitting on his lap flustered the dragon despite how much he adored the notion. Promptly, Zeke led Kiernan towards the comfortable, black leather computer chair. The dragon turned it to face them before settling down, briefly releasing his boyfriend's hand to accomplish the action. Hesitantly, Zeke reached to lead Kiernan to his lap. Bashfulness was consuming him, the sheer idea of his boyfriend sitting on his lap making his heart palpitate happily. Each powerful thump against his sternum threatened to have his heart leap out of his chest.
[break][break]
Breaths were quicker as the dragon led the slender man closing, coaxing him to sit down. Once Kiernan took his place on his lap Zeke sucked in a sharp breath, holding it before gradually releasing it. Everything will be okay, just breathe. Nothing is wrong, everything will be alright. Bravery was gathered, unnoticeable because of the red monopolizing the entirety of his face. Slowly, with a subtle shake, Zeke embraced Kiernan from behind, pulling the man closer before turning the computer chair to face the monitor. Additional breaths were required before Zeke settled his chin on Kiernan's shoulder.
[break][break]
As his hazel eyes noticed the computer's wallpaper, he smiled. Observing those splendid memories of his childhood with Kiernan brought immense joy to the short-haired man's heart. Instinctively, Zeke affectionately snuggled Kiernan, not even realizing the cuddling he initiated as comfort finally returned. Blush remained evident on the dragon's cheeks, making his face uncomfortably warm, but it had diminished slightly. Sometimes he wished he could hold Kiernan forever, his magnificent support against everything bad in the world.
Kiernan had leaned in, whispering if he may sit on his lap. He blushed when Zeke granted permission, mentioning how he'd get to hold him. He was then lead towards the chair, taking a seat on his lap, having chosen sideways for the sake of being able to wrap his arm around Zeke, to his surprise it was brief when Zeke had adjusted him forward before wrapping his arms around him. He breathed faster, looking at the computer screen, Zeke pressed close against his back. Slowly he leaned his back into him, melting as they became closer, finding this position extremely comfortable. For some reason, staring at the computer screen made him breath even faster as he stared at the family. In the past they had photos together, too. Oh how the idea of being with his darling boy friend made his heart ski rocket. If he thought that he was happy before, nothing could compare to this moment. Slowly he would turn his head sideways, being met with Zeke's cheek because he had placed his chin against his shoulder, he kissed it, hoping with all of his might that he'd get Zeke's cheeks to flare up some more, the blush being beautiful.
This, this felt right. He knew what was in store for them if he kept this up but, how could he break this up when he was just so comfortable. This was everything he had ever wanted and now that he finally had it, it was proving to be a struggle to give it up, even though he knew it would be the right and safest choice. His eyes closed as he found himself drifting into his thoughts, wishing he hadn't joined AP, wishing that he hadn't put Zeke in danger by being with him right now. Of course it was too late to go back now and he'd be damned if he didn't do everything in his power to keep his beloved safe from oncoming danger. Slowly his eyes would open back up, a small smile would form on his lips before he would turn to look back towards the computer screen. "This day is going to be great, I'll be able to spend it with you." He whispered, still as comfortable as ever, refusing to move as he sat on Zeke's lap.
For the Parade then our vacation. I promise I'll protect you. He thought to himself as he stared forward at the screen, slowly he would reach out to steal the mouse before opening the browser for their search. As means to avoid lying, I will keep my thoughts to myself as will what I know, I refuse to place you in danger. He thought to himself, believing with all his mind and soul that he was alone in this matter. Not that he believed Zeke would leave him hanging, he honestly just didn't want to drag him along for the ride. He was supposed to have a happy ending after the shit he had been placed in. He snuggled Zeke as they decided on the vacation spot before opening up the page, booking a time for later today.
Heaven was discovered the moment Zeke managed to adjust Kiernan's position to maintain a tight embrace around his waist. Comfortably, the short-haired man held his lovely boyfriend, refusing to release his stupendous man. Hugged tightly, the dragon enjoyed every second of holding Kiernan, their closeness being a positive experience. A warmth transpired between, pleasant and serenity-inspiring for the PTSD-burdened former general. Everything about the situation was fantastic, Zeke discovering himself oddly calmed by their position.
[break][break]
As Kiernan leaned back against him, the redness of Zeke's cheeks increasing slightly as blood rushed to his cheeks. A growing heat entered the dragon's face, however, his blush remained on the milder side. Heart rate increased, the symptoms of the kitsune's comfort in his arms making his heart wildly beat inside its cage. Despite the side-effects of his fluster, Zeke maintained a comfortably tight embrace around his beloved Kiernan. The unconscious snuggles ceased only briefly, promptly starting again when the former general's heart calmed.
[break][break]
When his boyfriend's head turned, Zeke felt his nose softly touch his cheek; his chin was still comfortably rested on the man's shoulder. Brown eyes glanced sideways, peering at Kiernan through peripheral vision. A soft smile twitched onto Zeke's lips as he watched his boyfriend. Fluster arrived quickly as the wonderful sensation of Kiernan's plush lips pressing against his cheek played across his skin. Blood rushed, returning to his face and painting it a bright shade of embarrassed red while demanding more oxygen to accomplish the goals of his rapidly beating heart.
[break][break]
Promptly in response to his heart's request, Zeke's breathing turned faster. The intensity of the blush increased from the sweet, softly done kiss. Evidently, the dragon was flustered, however, he was positively elated by the affectionate action his boyfriend accomplished. These precious moments were something Zeke dreamed for centuries, every fibre of his being chastising him for abandoning Kiernan and heading to British Columbia. Sometimes, the short-haired man wondered what would have transpired if he kissed Kiernan in the airport loading dock all those years ago.
[break][break]
Admittedly, Zeke would only regret the decision of leaving Kiernan if the blessing of his two marvellous children never came to fruition as a result. Endlessly, the dragon wished there was a method to receive his darling children, but dated Kiernan all those years ago. Unfortunately, destiny worked in mysterious ways, nobody could be granted everything they desired. Thus, the former general knew he would never regret the duration of time spent in BC, partially from the positive experiences he had, but mostly because of his beloved children, Emily and Lucas; they were his pride and joy.
[break][break]
The words whispered by his boyfriend maintained the blush on Zeke's face. Overwhelming fluster resulted in the dragon lifting his chin from Kiernan's shoulder, promptly hiding his reddened face in his boyfriend's back.
[break][break]
"You're so sweet," he mumbled while hiding his face. "I... I'm really happy to be with you."
[break][break]
Mouse clicks reached Zeke's ears, prompting the dragon to hesitantly leave his hiding place. The muscular man's brown eyes noticed the web browser open, searching for a location for their needed vacation. Carefully, he returned his chin to Kiernan's shoulder, comfortably settling into their previous position. The former general watched as Kiernan scrolled through the sites before discovering a suitable location and booking it for later today. A smile settled on Zeke's mouth at the fortune granted to the new couple; the destination they chose was not completely booked up.
[break][break]
"This is going to be great," Zeke murmured happily.
[break][break]
Relaxation at a beautiful destination with his handsome boyfriend was endearing. Their long-awaited relationship could hopefully bloom during those days spent privately together, however, portions of the evening would undoubtedly be used to check on Lucas and Emily. As their only living parent, Zeke was determined to remain connected and even over-protective of his children; as a father, it was his occupation.
Kiernan couldn't help but feel pleased that he managed to land a kiss on Zeke's cheek. He had closed his eyes as he drifted into his thoughts briefly before looking back at Zeke before turning to look at the computer screen. He whispered his comment, amused as he felt Zeke move to hide his face against his back. He felt pleased when he heard Zeke's in return. "I'm happy to be with you too." He whispered in return, opening up the browser for their search. He searched a few places before coming to a decision on where they'd go. As soon as their vacation was booked, he closed out of the site, melting against Zeke. It wouldn't be long now before they'd get to go to the Parade. I'm not going to tell him that I've been staying in a hotel ever since I went to search for him. I don't want to worry him. Though I'm unsure on how'd I go about packing when my stuff isn't at the apartment anymore. He thought to himself, debating on all of his options.
Now lets see here.... I could always sneak away and come back? No, that won't work, I'm sure he'd notice and I don't want to upset him.... He thought to himself, determined as ever to make it back to the hotel without Zeke finding out where he has been staying this whole time. His thoughts were interrupted when his phone started to ring. That is strange.... I never get phone calls.... He thought to himself, slowly he reached down to grab his phone, pulling it out of his pocket to look at it before answering. "Hello?" He asked, unsure of who the caller was, however it would become quite clear as soon as the person on the other line explained themselves. Turns out they made a mistake and the room he had been staying in, was supposed to go to somebody else later in the day, so they'd have to swap him rooms. He couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed that he had made the mistake of answering the phone call on Zeke's lap, where he'd be able to hear the phone call. Including but not limited to, hotel stay, in Lorsette.
It was a struggle, attempting to come up with words. For one, he didn't want to swap rooms, two, he really couldn't afford a night in the hotel if he wasn't even going to be spending the night there. He wasn't sure how things would go down as soon as he got of the phone but he decided it would be in his best interest to avoid another night if possible. "Would it be possible for me to check out, since the room wasn't available for me?" He slowly would ask, wanting nothing more than to stay with Zeke forever. After a few minutes, he'd have permission to check out since it was before the time of check out, without the worry of being charged for another day because they had been the ones to place him in a room and later booked somebody else in it. "Thank you." He'd answer in the phone before hanging it up. He'd then glance towards Zeke, "You'll come with me, won't you?" He whispered, believing that Zeke would want to be around him just as much as he wanted to remain close to him.
Every second he held Kiernan was a heavenly encounter for Zeke, mostly because of the warmth between himself and the kitsune. These precious moments shared between the new couple sparked immense feelings of absolute joy for the former general. These instances of softness were well-received by the PTSD burdened man and allowed serenity to travel through his veins. The present of calmness was always welcomed to the man struggling through the turmoil of mental problems. The ramifications of being horrendously tortured was a ghostly presence which lingered with anyone forced through traumatic circumstances.
[break][break]
Breathing was soothed despite the closeness, Zeke holding his boyfriend tightly. The dragon’s brown eyes observed Kiernan scrolling through the options before picking a location for their vacation. While they searched, Zeke's cheeks burned red because of Kiernan's confession to being happy in their relationship. A soft smile stretched across countenance as he tightly embraced the long-haired man, the mutual happiness creating a few heart flutters. Comfort returned, allowing Zeke to proceed with snuggling his sweet, beautiful Kiernan while they searched for a proper destination for a well-needed session of serenity.
[break][break]
Perhaps things were moving quickly, but passionate emotions quieted those thoughts. Centuries of desiring a relationship with the kitsune made Zeke comfortable in the fast-moving romantic waters, however, there was something else attributing to these positive vibes. A mysterious feeling indicating a deeper connection, yet, the dragon was unable to describe the emotion in exact words. Something magical connected them, allowing their long-held feelings to flourish under the love's warm light. Even after the booking was completed, the former general continued to hold Kiernan.
[break][break]
He wished to prolong their special moment of togetherness, alas, before a conversation could be manifested, a phone rung. The dragon stiffened slightly from the unexpected noise, however, was promptly calmed as Kiernan answered his cellphone. Despite the abrupt call, Zeke continued holding the kitsune, waiting to discover if he was required to give his boyfriend privacy as he spoke on the phone. Alas, as a greeting escaped Kiernan's lips, the individual on the other end promptly began speaking about a hotel room...
[break][break]
As the conversation proceeded, the former general's eyes remained locked on Kiernan as he pondered why his boyfriend was in a hotel room opposed to his apartment. A frown broke Zeke's smile as he stared at his boyfriend, patiently waiting for him to finish the phone call. When a thank you was provided and the phone hung up, the dragon gave Kiernan a reassuring squeeze. The request to accompany the beautiful, long-haired man was listened to, Zeke nodding slowly in response.
[break][break]
"... But... why are you staying in a hotel?" Zeke inquired hesitantly. "And don't you lie... I know when you lie."
[break][break]
The embrace's grip was loosened slightly, allowing the former general to view Kiernan's handsome face better. Concern covered Zeke's expression as he stared at his boyfriend. For years, his crush maintained rent on an apartment, thus the abrupt change was worrying for the dragon. Did Kiernan no longer live in Lorsette and was merely visiting to keep him company? Alas, the notion possessed holes considering his boyfriend stated he recently returned from vacation, thus, should this not be home? Nothing seemed quite right, especially considering hotels were rather expensive under most circumstances.
[break][break]
With a worrisome gaze, Zeke kept his eyes locked with Kiernan while awaiting the answer. He desired to know why his boyfriend was suddenly renting a room inside a hotel. Already, the dragon assumed the reason for not informing him was to avoid concerning him, but he found himself extremely worried now. Sometimes he wished Kiernan would open up about these concerns more often, especially when it was a worrisome notion.
Kiernan was pleased to see Zeke nod his head but that frown, he knew he was in trouble upon seeing it. Zeke was asking questions and he didn't have any answers that he could give him. He remained silent as the question remained in the air. He knew why he left his job, knew why he left his apartment but nobody else did and it was better off that way. "I was leaving for my trip, it wouldn't be logical to remain in contract while traveling, so I ended my lease." He answered, hoping that Zeke wouldn't press on the vacation details that he had managed to get away with the first time. "Then I just never got around to getting a new apartment." He answered, not wishing to return to that landlord. They had had a good relationship prior to him moving out and though it was sad to part ways, he just knew he'd feel awkward returning to them at this point. "Besides if I wanted to travel, I'd be in the same boat of having to sell my lease again.
So here I am.... but as you heard, they tried swapping me bedrooms over an error in their computer." He answered before adding, "So I have mixed feelings of what I'd do right now. I mean, sure I could find another hotel but..." The last thing he wanted to say was that he planned on doing so because frankly he wasn't. If I have to up and leave, I don't want to risk you being in harms way. So that is another reason for why I'm in a hotel, I'll be able to up and leave if AP comes for me. He thought to himself, melting in Zeke's grip, struggling to keep himself calm because he feared for the worst in the near future. I shouldn't say if, I know they'll come for me sooner or later. It is only a matter of time. He was convinced it was so and yet, he couldn't bring himself to leave.
A frown remained on Zeke's face as he stared at Kiernan's handsome face. Worrying over Kiernan arrived naturally for the dragon since the man frequently handed them over on a silver platter. However, the former general preferred being provided knowledge about his boyfriend's woes as opposed to being fed lies or silence in response to those concerns. Constantly, Zeke worried himself with Kiernan's health, his intense love for the kitsune feeding those worries further. After loosening the hug, the dragon reached around, grabbing his boyfriend's hand and intertwining their fingers.
[break][break]
Reassurance was Zeke's objective so Kiernan would be completely forthcoming about the reason he lived in a hotel room opposed to his apartment. Disappointingly, the dragon knew his friend was prone to dishonesty to avoid worry or trouble, however, he always successfully detected those lies. Alas, years had passed since the childhood days where Zeke consistently caught Kiernan's lies; it allowed for honesty between them. Briefly, the dragon prayed his skills were still prepared to notice the minor calls his boyfriend made when lying.
[break][break]
The short-haired man disliked when his boyfriend lied, however, Zeke learned centuries ago that Kiernan oftentimes lied to avoid people worried over his well-being. A subtle hint of determination flaring in the dragon's brown eyes as he listened to the kitsune's words, completely unaware the man could be telling half-truths. Each word was listened to before Zeke smiled softly at his boyfriend.
[break][break]
"Well... you could stay here. My mom did say 'you might as well live here'..." Zeke offered bashfully, his cheeks turning a slight shade of red. "I mean... they wouldn't mind Kier... You're like family."
[break][break]
Affection was evident in Zeke's eyes as he insisted Kiernan stayed inside the Durmont household. The dragon knew his parents would enjoy having Kiernan live inside the large house. Furthermore, the scene his mother witnessed would only increase the motivation to allow the kitsune to stay. The idea of living alongside the long-haired man was exhilarating for Zeke, his devotion to his mental anchor being endless. Innocent thoughts of watching movies together, snuggling throughout their sleep and other adorable couple things entered Zeke's mind.
[break][break]
Slowly, the frown broke into a broad smile, the dragon giving Kiernan a reassuring squeeze. The concept of increasing his time spent alongside Kiernan was amazing, however, Zeke also wanted to relieve the man's bank account by getting him out of an expensive hotel room.
Kiernan melted when Zeke had intertwined their fingers. He answered Zeke's questions, hoping this half truth wouldn't be noticed because he wasn't ready to admit the whole truth just yet. He couldn't help but blush when Zeke offered to allow him to stay here. "Are you sure?" He asked, feeling like he would take up too much room even though the only thing he had on him was a suitcase and nothing else. What had once been him having a bunch of stuff, had slowly become smaller and smaller as the years went by until he barely had anything else. There was no point if he'd be on the run after all. "So couch then?" He asked, curious on where Zeke was hinting at him staying. Unaware that invite would likely mean sharing a bedroom with his best friend, wonderful boy friend. There were also some thoughts of getting to spend all of his free time with Zeke, never having to part ways with him. Well unless he was in danger, but hopefully this bliss would last just a little bit longer, not being ready to give it up just yet. He felt Zeke squeeze and he returned the favor before slowly pulling away with the intention to stand up.
"Shall we go?" He asked, blushing at the idea of Zeke remaining with him as they planned to retrieve his suitcase from the hotel, having failed to say that was the only item in his belong that was in there. Slowly he'd reach out his other hand, offering it to Zeke with plans up helping him stand up. "The hotel isn't too far from here." He admitted, waiting for them to be ready before leading the way towards the bedroom door so that they could walk to the hotel for his suitcase and to check out. He'd then lead him to the hallway before opening the front door for him, knowing they'd be back in a few minutes before walking along the sidewalk towards the hotel. He wasn't sure what to say, so he chose to remain silent as he pondered how his life had gone from him sleeping in a hotel, to living at Zeke's house with him. A few minutes later, the hotel had become in view and he walked inside, heading down the hallway before stopping in front of the room that had been his. He pulled his wallet out to grab the keycard before slipping his wallet back into his pocket, having kept the keycard out to unlock the door, holding it for Zeke before following him inside.
The room was simple, there was only an unmade bed in the room. He walked over to the corner to grab his suitcase before moving towards the door. Since the hotel provided the supplies and it was almost gone, he saw no trouble in just leaving it in there for them to deal with. He'd reach out to open the door for Zeke before following him out of the bedroom before walking down the hall. There was a person at front desk, helping a small line that had formed prior to them going to the hotel. He stood in the back of the line, waiting for it to be his true as he pondered Zeke's words about them living together. A few minutes later, it was his turn. "I'm here to check out." He answered, setting the keycard on the counter before reaching for his wallet for his plastic card. Once he paid, he got a copy of his receipt before opening his suitcase to place it in there before closing it back up. Now all that was left to do, would be walking back home with his darling boy friend, Zeke.
Constantly, Zeke discovered reasons to worry about his beloved Kiernan, the wonderful man bringing him great joy throughout those years he endlessly crushed on him. Dreams of dating and loving the kitsune always filled the dragon's mind. Their intertwined fingers manifested intense happiness as Zeke stood alongside his boyfriend. Mutually shared warmth prompted Zeke to smile reassuringly at the long-haired man he adored. Despite Kiernan's dishonest tendencies, nothing could shatter the concept of him being a special individual in the former dragon's life.
[break][break]
The beautiful blush painting the dark-haired kitsune's face a shade of red caught Zeke's attention. A lip-tight, friendly smile carved into the dragon's face as he stared, mesmerized by those enchanting facial features Kiernan had. Fortune arrived on his doorstep the moment he realized his feelings for the long-haired man still existed. Things improved from there, an elated Zeke officially inviting his boyfriend to live in his parents' household with the belief his parents would approve. The Durmonts knew Kiernan was a good man and a family ally.
[break][break]
"I am certain," Zeke whispered, smiling. "They know you're good Kier. I am sure they would be happy to invite you to stay."
[break][break]
Years ago when Zeke dated Sophia, his parents purchased a queen-sized bed for the former lovebirds to share. The invitation arrived with the belief Kiernan planned on sharing the bedroom with him, a delightful notion for Zeke. Struggles with nightmares and abrupt panic attacks manifesting from those nightmares made the idea of sharing the room pleasant. At least with Kiernan laying beside him, Zeke could trust there was somebody there to whisper soothing words or at least, the dragon hoped the kitsune was willing.
[break][break]
Only moments later was the sleeping on the couch mentioned, Zeke's eyes widened as he locked his gaze on Kiernan. A small frown crossed the former general's face as he sheepishly glanced away. Rapidly, the dragon's heart was beating inside his ribcage as his mind desperately grasped for words.

"Actually... um... I was hoping... we could share a room?" Zeke explained nervously. "I mean... I... I... liked... the idea... because... sleep difficulties..."
[break][break]
Each word quieted as Zeke approached the end of his sentence, uncertain if Kiernan would agree to share a room. Subtly, the dragon hinted at his nightmares and the desire for company whenever his breath grew quick and fear conquered his heart. A simple return squeeze caused a smile to twitch onto the short-haired man's lips. The question was answered with a small nod, Zeke tightening his grip around Kiernan's hand automatically. Walking down sidewalks always sparked anxiety for the PTSD burdened man despite the action being normal for a majority of people.
[break][break]
When the moment arrived to raise from the office chair, Zeke accepted the offer helped and was hauled to his feet. Information was provided by Kiernan about the hotel's location, a nod accompanied by a smile acting as the dragon's response. Once prepared, Zeke followed the kitsune through the threshold. Together, they walked down the hallway, Zeke maintaining a firm grip on his boyfriend's hand as he followed. As a pair, they approached the front door in preparation to exit the Durmont family home. Smoothly, the former general slipped his feet into some black sandals before they opened the front door.
[break][break]
Sunlight warmed Zeke's flesh as they exited the cool, air-conditioned home. Broadly, the large man grinned, taking a deep breath before exhaling the wonderful fresh air.
[break][break]
"It's beautiful outside, eh?" Zeke stated, glancing at Kiernan.
[break][break]
Undoubtedly in Zeke's mind, Kiernan would enjoy the pleasant summer weather considering the man was a fire kitsune. Once again, the dragon tightened the grip around his boyfriend's hand, joyously thinking of how people would finally see them as a couple. Everything about their relationship felt right, as though fate's strings pulled them together, their destinies intertwined like their fingers; romantically and meant to be together. Within minutes, Zeke arrived at the hotel with Kiernan, the pair entering and heading to his boyfriend's hotel room.
[break][break]
Mere minutes were spent inside the room, Kiernan walking over to grab a suitcase before returning to the door. Astonishment flashed in Zeke's brown eyes. It appeared his boyfriend downsized plenty to live inside the small hotel room without issue. A frown breached the muscular man's smile, however, he remained silent as they returned to the front desk. When they arrived there, Kiernan requested to check out, the woman behind the counter doing the necessary steps before wishing them a good day and favouring the couple with a friendly smile.
[break][break]
Silently, the dragon watched as the attractive man placed the receipt into the suitcase before closing it. Afterwards, they exited the hotel, returning to the wondrous, natural heat of the pleasant late morning. Only when they left did the dragon's eyes locked on Kiernan, worry obvious.
[break][break]
"... You must have really downsized," Zeke commented softly.
[break][break]
No matter what happened, Zeke always found himself concerned over Kiernan and his well-being. While worry existed, it was accompanied by those sparks of love in the short-haired man's brown eyes. In slow motion, Zeke squeezed his boyfriend's hands, gently tugging him closer. Prayers entered the former general's mind as he hoped Kiernan would explain the sudden downsizing to merely a suitcase.
Kiernan was flattered that Zeke had invited him into his home. Though they were dating, though they had been friends for years, he hadn't expected the invite and he was truly grateful for it. It hadn't crossed his mind that he'd be sharing a bedroom with his darling Zeke. He had made the comment about taking the couch, to his surprise Zeke was frowning at him before making the comment about sharing a bedroom. He breathed faster at the idea of sharing a bedroom with Zeke. "Ohhhh Zeke." He whispered, suddenly adjusting to wrap his arms around his beloved boy friend. "I'd love to." He whispered, truly grateful. Slowly the thoughts formed in his head, sharing a bedroom with Zeke, how they wouldn't likely have secrets among one another. His cheeks became pink as he blushed immensely. It seemed doubtful that Zeke would want him to sleep on the floor, but he'd be where Zeke said he could be. Of course sleeping besides his Zeke would bring him great joy. Slowly he'd pull away from Zeke, squeezing his hand in return before asking if they shall go. After helping Zeke to his feet, they walked out of the bedroom, down the hall, and out of the house.
He couldn't help but smile slightly when he heard Zeke's comment. "Yes." He whispered, "Though nothing could compare to my Zeke." He flirted, hoping to get him flustered again. He lead the way to the hotel, to his bedroom, before heading back down the hall towards the front desk. Once they were outside, he paused when he heard Zeke's comment. "Guilty as charged..." He released the suitcase to rub the back of his neck nervously, before allowing it to fall back down to his side to grab the suitcase once more. He felt Zeke squeeze his hand before returning the favor. "I only kept what I felt I needed." He whispered, not really missing the other stuff. Many had been bought by his parents and he couldn't help but not really care about keeping such things. Though he did slightly miss the book shelf of books he had once owned prior to selling them off. "Less stuff to move while traveling." He explained, once more using a half truth. He didn't have plans to leave again, not unless his Zeke or his family was in danger. Thoughts of being outside were somewhat worrisome for him.
AP was out there somewhere, possibly searching for their prisoner. He'd be damned if he didn't keep Zeke safe at all times. Or if they had caught wind that he was the one to betray them with some important information on the side. "We should head back. I don't want to worry your family." He whispered, trying to use it as an excuse for them to head back. Though he wanted Zeke to be comforted there was still worry in the back of his mind that he wasn't safe, not even with him and the sooner he was brought back home, the sooner more people could assist with keeping Zeke safe. Slowly he would start to walk forward, attempting to start their walk back towards the house.
Between couples, flirting was an expected affair as both aimed to please their partner or potentially witness the breath-taking spectacle of red blossoming onto the other's cheeks. Viewing those flustered expressions appeared to bring joy to some, thus motivating the necessity to flirt. Unfortunately, Zeke felt rusty with both providing and receiving those flirtatious remarks, especially from somebody stunning like Kiernan. Centuries of crushing on the long-haired beauty made the compliments escaping the kitsune's lips meaningful.
[break][break]
The suggestion to share a room produced those pinkish cheeks, inspiring Zeke to smile slightly at his stunning boyfriend. Pleasantry was discovered in witnessing his boyfriend's flushed face, happiness sparking from the observation. How Kiernan agreed to share a bedroom resulted in blood flooding Zeke's cheeks, painting them a deep red. A simple return hand squeeze made the dragon's heart fluttered, remaining close to his precious boyfriend. When Zeke complimented the weather, the long-haired man opportunistically flirted with him.
[break][break]
Immediately, the heat and redness of Zeke's face increased as he bashfully glanced away from his sweet boyfriend. The flirtatious words Kiernan provided the former general made him feel special. Everything about his childhood friend was incredible and despite it being a short amount of time, Zeke felt pure happiness. Between them was a connection, something which made every single moment walking with Kiernan gleeful. When everything was gathered and they departed from the hotel, Zeke began a conversation about the kitsune's downsizing.
[break][break]
They paused a moment, the chance being seized to squeeze Kiernan's hand reassuringly. Each word was listened to, a frown drawn on Zeke's face as his boyfriend explained. Only necessities were kept, everything else sold because of the kitsune's plans to travel. The plan was sensible, but the dragon found himself concerned over Kiernan's feelings. Everything the young man once owned was officially gone, sold to other people and never to be seen again. The notion was upsetting, especially when Zeke imagined Kiernan's apartment, those old memories making him frown further.
[break][break]
"I see..." Zeke responded softly. "You must have been planning to travel a lot."
[break][break]
A countenance of worry was worn by Zeke's face as he stared at his beloved boyfriend. Only moments later did Kiernan whisper the suggestion to proceed because of his concerns over manifesting worry from his family, however, the dragon remained motionless. Carefully, Zeke tugged Kiernan's arm, pulling him closer to embrace his long-haired boyfriend in hopes of squeezing the man tightly. He loved the kitsune and he wished to provide comfort despite being on the sidewalk near a hotel; he desired to hug him badly.
[break][break]
As his boyfriend, Zeke felt providing comfort was a requirement considering their close relationship. Unexpectedly, closeness manifested quickly despite the shortness of their relationship so far. Those childhood years seemed the likely culprit, the many days spent innocently enjoying themselves and playing their games. Even before they began dating, the pair hugged often and enjoyed the company of one another. Only recently were they official, but Zeke felt it warranted him a reason to display his concerns over Kiernan and provide comfort whenever possible.
Kiernan couldn't help but feel pleased when Zeke had blushed, bashfully glancing away from him. So adorable. He thought to himself, pure happiness over their relationship status, having almost forgotten about the problem behind their connection becoming stronger. It was too difficult to bring up, Zeke was a temptation he was unable to part ways with, besides the desiring of not wanting to leave his side, he knew it would hurt Zeke greatly and he didn't want to put him through that situation. The walk to the hotel was peaceful, though the conversation that soon followed leaving the hotel had left him struggling with answers that he desired to give him in return. He explained why he had downsized, choosing his words carefully because he didn't want to worry Zeke or put him in a situation that might put him in further danger, even though accepting this relationship had done just that. "Yes." He answered, lying. He wasn't sure how he could make it seem as if he had been when in fact he had really planned on staying here this whole time. Everything had changed once Zeke had been captured and he had searched him out, choosing to betray AP instead of allowing them to kill Zeke.
This subject had become somewhat uncomfortable, not that he was bothered over Zeke worrying over him, just the more Zeke knew, the more he feared he'd be in danger. He had whispered, making the suggest about them proceeding back towards the house. For a moment there, he thought that Zeke wouldn't take the suggestion because he stood motionless. Being pulled into an embrace had come as a surprise, he melted into it before wrapping his arms around Zeke, having released the suitcase, clearly overjoyed that they were hugging again, not that he'd admit to such a thing. It really was helpful when he tried pushing his worries to the back of his mind, even though he believed it wasn't fair to Zeke, the risk of putting him in danger just for being in his presence since he had betrayed the AP. The suggestion to return back home had been forgotten as he hugged Zeke back, needing this greatly, more then Zeke would ever know. Though in the back of his mind, he couldn't help but feel like Zeke might know something is up, seeing as he was a horrible liar and had downsized greatly. They'd get home, sooner or later but for now, he was going to savor this, never wanting it to ever end.
Tightly, Zeke embraced his boyfriend, rubbing the kitsune's back as he held him against his chest. Confusion existed as the dragon hugged his beloved Kiernan, a single word displaying those usual calls of a lie. Alas, the short-haired man spared time embracing his boyfriend, attempting to deduce why Kiernan would lie about travelling. Was he trying to impress him, or was there more? He knew Kiernan could be protective, however, Zeke's discovered befuddlement by the lies the beautiful, long-haired man decided to tell him.
[break][break]
Gently, the dragon snuggled his boyfriend, refusing to release the man he adored greatly. Since his childhood, he loved Kiernan, the long-haired, everything about him causing Zeke to discover bliss amidst the misfortune which befell him. Their embrace was pleasant, the former general smiling when he felt Kiernan melt because of the hug. Silent moments passed, Zeke, enjoying their embrace a little longer before pulling away slightly. The dragon adjusted to have his mouth close to Kiernan's ear, arms softly around him to keep the man close.
[break][break]
"You are lying," he whispered it before bringing a hand up to caress his boyfriend's cheek. "... Kier, why are you lying to me? I know you don't want me to worry, but I get worried when you decide to lie to me..."
[break][break]
The short-haired man pulled away further, frowning at the man he held lightly, his eyes focused on Kiernan's face. Softly, he caressed his boyfriend's cheek, brown eyes watching his reaction. The dragon never enjoyed it when the kitsune lied to him, but he understood the reason behind his boyfriend's choices. Every instance where his boyfriend lied was with plans to protect him, however, Zeke felt defending was not required. They were dating, partners throughout life, their journey together needing trust and truth between them. Unfortunately, getting Kiernan to admit those truths could be difficult at times; the kitsune was always a stubborn man.
[break][break]
After a few seconds of staring passed, Zeke tightened the embrace again, hoping Kiernan would whisper him a response. Other people were roaming the streets and the dragon wanted to avoid eavesdropping or the involvement of strangers. Alas, waiting until they returned home and entered the house was another viable option to assure optimal privacy. Should Kiernan be unable to admit it here, Zeke prayed a long walk home would strengthen any potential feelings of guilt. He wanted honesty between them... The foundations of a relationship hinged on honesty, trust and love and lies, even with positive intentions, could become a poison for its roots.
