Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

arret listens as Ryker explains the whole situation. It's a lot to take in, but then again, this is Ryker, and Garret doesn't mind it if it's the demon. So the ex-boyfriend had been informed first about the relationship. He feels his face heat up and turn his cheeks to a faint pink once Ryker tells him of hi desire to have him as his boyfriend; Garret doesn't talk through all of this, only listening. It may not be enough for an explanation, but Garret does not force anything more from the demon.
Only when Ryker expresses his hurry does Garret's head perk up from leaning against the table. "R-Really now--" He stammers, and suddenly he feels the need to slap himself in the face. Did he just stammer? Did he really not want Ryker to go? As he watches the demon exit the room he could almost feel his heart slipping from his chest. However, he could still not move. Does he want to accompany him? Does Garret feel a need to? And could he possibly sustain his jealousy against his ex-boyfriend--
...Jealousy?
Garret wasn't jealous. No, not at all...
As if to prove himself wrong, as Ryker slashes his hand Garret rushes out of the house and runs to the demon. "You didn't think you'd go without me, wouldn't you~?" He coos, hugging the demon from behind. But aside from wanting to accompany him, Garret does want to see this ex-boyfriend's face. There would be no killing involved, oh most certainly none... but in case he tries something fishy, well then. Garret is ready for that.
Accompanying Ryker is all that matters for now.

Yes, it is more than okay for them to teleport <3 Garret's not going to let you go on your own, Ryker, what did you expect? <3
Ryker had mentioned how he would have to go, feeling back that it was sudden. "Yes." He answered, having not wasted anytime going back outside. He enjoyed being in Garret's company but upon getting the text from his ex boy friend, he couldn't help but feel a great need to get a move on to check up on him. He knew that his ex had slowly had started becoming crazy and though it was fine at first, he had secretly made a promise to himself, knowing that if things got really bad, he would handle it before anybody else had a chance to do it. In the middle of slashing the palm of his hand, he couldn't help but chuckle as he heard Garret's comment. "Of course not baby, I just wanted to see you catch up to me as you had last time." He flirted, finishing the teleportation circle.
He melted in Garret's embrace, enjoying the feeling of Garret's chest against his back. "Shall we?' He asked, then would step into the circle, having touched Garret's hands with his own as if extra measures were in order in case Garret planned on ditching at the last second. Once they teleported, they would be in the living room of his ex's home. It was quiet, which was strange, normally his ex was all for reading in the living room but instead he was nowhere in sight. "That is weird..." He mumbled, though he had a pretty good idea of where he might be able to find him, so he headed towards the basement, leading Garret as he slowly made his way down the stairs before pushing the door open. "Are you down here?" He called out, not wanting to startle his ex if he was down here.
For one, he hadn't mentioned bringing company and two, his ex was always cautious when it came to possible intruders entering his home. Once getting to the foot of the stairs, he had seen them, his ex and his daughter. "What are you doing?" He asked, concerned because his ex never held his daughter captive like this before. It is a good thing I came, maybe bringing Garret along had been a bad idea.... He thought to himself as he watched his ex and daughter from the other side of the room.

n a few moments Ryker's teleportation circle has been completed. As he runs up to him he could hear the demon flirting with him yet again, and Garret wonders how he can do it in a dire time like this, a dire time that concerns him, of all people, a dire time that shouldn't even involve himself. But he enjoys Ryker's talk nonetheless. "Shut up," He whispers, but he's laughing and giggling and he doesn't mean that at all.
Before they leave he feels Ryker's hand brush against his, and as he asks for confirmation to go, Garret simply nods. The next thing he knows, he's out of Polvu's alley of burglars and into the living room of a small, quaint home, albeit dark. It's not unsettling, to say the least. He surveys the surroundings with a quirked eyebrow, taking in the small details of the house, but he has only but a short time as Ryker starts leading him to a stairway that leads to a basement. Garret is familiar with basements, so he doesn't mind the darkness of it.
He hears Ryker mutter under his breath, something about 'where are you' though Garret isn't sure; he could only assume, however, that Ryker is talking to his ex-boyfriend, if he's not talking at dead air. He is tempted to light even a small flame from his finger to light up the way, but he figures Ryker wouldn't like that. Instead, he whispers to Ryker, though not looking away from the walls. "So... where is this ex-boyfriend of yours?"
He gets his answer, soon after they have reached the basement. Everything around him is irrelevant as he stares at a man holding a little girl captive in his arms. He doesn't hear whatever Ryker has to say, if he even said anything. Garret simply looks at the man dead in the eye; he's known captivities like this and he's killed a lot of kidnappers before. He could kill one again, but Ryker wouldn't like that.
The man in front of him seems to be Ryker's ex, after all. And he wouldn't kill him unless Ryker wanted him to, which is unlikely.

AAAAAA yet another post for these boys~ I love them <3 Also Garret isn't touching the medic, oh no, he'll let Ryker do what he gotta do
Ryker had teleported them into the evil medic's home. The bliss of Garret's teasing having come to an end because he was focused on what the hell his ex planned on doing. He lead them down to the basement, stopping when he noticed his ex holding his daughter captive. They were never married and yet she was like a daughter to him. When his friend's death would occur, he had planned on continuing to raise her like his own child. However, having a chance to see her father like this would complicate things. His ex started talking, clearly sounding crazy. Ryker knew this day was going to come but he had hoped it wouldn't be today and not in front of his daughter. As soon as his ex stopped speaking, he would slowly pull away from Garret to walk towards his ex.
"So that is your plan, huh?" He would ask, being allowed close because his friend trusted him with his life. Once he was within reach, he would grab his ex's arms before saying, "What part would you have me play in all of this?" He wasn't planning on going along with it, but as he expected, his ex released his daughter and he noticed her flee towards the stairs. Slowly he would withdraw his dagger from his jacket pocket and stab the his ex in the gut, knowing with his guard down it would be easy. At first his friend was startled, but then whispered his thanks, having come to realize the action he had almost just done on his daughter. He died before Ryker allowed him to fall onto the ground. A scream could be heard, before footsteps were headed up the stairs. He pulled the dagger out of his ex before wiping the blade on the bottom of his shirt before slipping it back into his jacket pocket.
He then leaned over to grab his ex's cell phone before slipping it into his pocket. He thought she had gone upstairs, not lingered to watch him kill his ex, her father. "Garret, we should go." He answered, heading back towards Garret, he planned on leading him back upstairs. With his daughter not in sight, he sighed, knowing he'd have to find her later. "Sorry for dragging you into my mess." He whispered, before moving towards the front door that had been left open by his ex's daughter. He moved to step outside to peek around themselves before adding, "You must have so many questions, where to start?" He asked, unsure, though before he got a chance to capture his ex's daughter, he noticed that she had ran into some TRS. "Are you good with me teleporting us back? I'll have to get her later." He whispered, upset that she got away like this.

he man's sanity seems to have left him in his time of need, Garret thinks to himself; he almost feels sorry for his daughter, but there is nothing he can do. From when a while ago he had been holding Ryker's hand, now he feels him slowly drifting away and walking towards the lunatic. He hears inaudible words and a few giggling then and there, and immediately Garret knows he can never be saved anymore. What was Ryker planning, he did not know. He didn't want to ask. But he wished he'd asked before, because if he chooses to try and help his ex it would be a huge mistake.
But Garret doesn't know Ryker's intentions. He is simply nothing but a man standing there, watching as Ryker approaches the crazy man and speaking rather quietly with him. He sees the young girl sprint from her father's grasp and run to the stairs, and Garret is almost tempted to stop her. But she is simply a child, and whatever horrifying thing that is to come, she shouldn't be there to witness it. Garret knows that much. Even with the heart of a killer, he knows what it is to be put in a terrible situation in his youth; but she is lucky she'd had the opportunity to escape it.
Finally, the ex is dead, murdered by Ryker, and Garret looks up at the child who screams and runs upward, further away from the basement. Garret is about to follow her, but Ryker cuts in, telling him they should go. "The little girl, Ryker..." He mutters, but doesn't say anything more. Instead, he follows Ryker up the basement and back to the living room, where they'd teleported a while ago.
Ryker apologizes for involving him in the matter, but Garret brushes it off. "It's alright, I don't mind. I'll save the questions for later." He says with reassurance. The little girl is nowhere to be found; she seems to have run outside. Ryker says that he would have to fetch her later, asking him before that if he would want to be transported back to Polvu's place. "When will you fetch her?" He asks instead. Garret takes a quick look outside and sees that the TRS is there; it seems the ex's daughter had run up to them. Presumably to tell them off.
Ah, naturally of children. They see horrifying things done by terrible people and they approach the good ones to tell them about what they had seen. Garret's face suddenly turns sour looking at the TRS, then shakes his head. "Nevermind. Take me back to Polvu's." He says rather quietly. Ah, why he is remembering everything now, of all times, just because he had seen a child stuck to a situation that clearly resembled what he had gone through?

AAAAAAND ANOTHER! Please tell me if things don't make any sense, and feel free to correct me if I've accidentally referred to Ryker as Garret again XD
Ryker had moved towards Garret, hearing his comment, his plan had been to follow after his ex's daughter. Planning on taking her in so that he could finish raising her himself. But he couldn't bring himself to answer Garret right at the moment as he walked back up the stairs and into the living room. He then apologizes for involving Garret in the matter. He was pleased to hear Garret tell him that he didn't mind and would ask his questions later. He had noticed the TRS, suggesting for them to leave now and how he'd have to get his ex's daughter later. As much as he wanted her right now, he wasn't willing to put up with TRS and their bull shit, nor was he willing to involve Garret with them. He couldn't help but feel pleased when Garret went from asking when he'd get his ex's daughter to telling him to take him back. He was quick to creating a new teleportation hex circle before pulling Garret in with him. As soon as they teleported back to Polvu's he would release his grip on him.
"Where do I start?" He asked, mumbling because he was hurting from the fact he had to kill his ex. They had been friends for so long, the action had been done for love. He was going to miss him so much and he couldn't help but be somewhat angry that he had failed to bring his ex's daughter back with them. Though it was possible Garret had questions that he was ready for him to answer, instead he took this time to withdraw the cell phone from his pocket, first deleting all known messages on it before doing a reset on the device itself. He would then remove the sim card before stepping on both the cell phone and sim card to ensure that both were damaged before leaning over to catch them on fire. It might have been over kill but he wasn't about to risk being tracked, not when he had gone so long in nobody knowing about his relationship with his ex. Once he was sure that the cell phone and sim card were destroyed, he would put out his fire before looking back towards Garret.
"Tell me, do you know the identity of the evil medic that had been circling around the city?" He would wait to hear Garret's answer before adding, "My ex, is that same man and I've just killed him." He didn't know if telling Garret was a good idea or not but if they wanted their relationship to work, he knew secrets couldn't manifest between them. "My relationship with him has been on and off, having met him during the the War of the Traitors."

yker is sensible enough to teleport them back to Polvu's place. The little girl is not with them as she is with the TRS; obviously he is more upset with the situation than he should be. Convincing himself that such a situation is normal clearly isn't working for Garret. He's angry with what is happening and he doesn't know why; it's more of a concern for his and Ryker's safety, now that the TRS is probably on their trail because of the lunatic's daughter.
In a few moments, both men are now standing in Polvu's alley of burglars, the street that overlooks the abandoned apartments and houses inhabited by the thieves in Polvu's operations. The teleportation circle disappears behind him; Ryker then asks him where to start, which snaps his attention back to the demon. He means questions, Garret thinks. He has a lot in mind, for sure. "How about you start with what exactly you're going to do with that little girl," He says, still quite upset; but from the tone of his voice earlier, he can tell Ryker is just as upset as well. "She's probably with the TRS so that's going to give you a hard time."
He then observes Ryker later, the way he picks his phone from his pocket, doing a few things with it before throwing it to the floor and destroying it along with the SIM card he'd removed from the phone earlier. As he sets his broken phone on fire, he proceeds to tell him of his ex's identity; apparently he's an evil medic, someone he'd met before the War of Traitors. "...He's not someone I'm familiar with," Is the only thing he can say. He doesn't feel like saying much right now. It's basically an invitation for Ryker to continue with his introduction to his ex, though he doesn't say it out loud.
Ryker listened to Garret's question but had yet to answer it. Garret had a point, getting his ex's daughter from TRS was going to be troublesome, but he believed not impossible. He would just be forced to think of a strategy to avoid running into Brasti. After he takes the phone out and is in process of destroying it as he explains who his ex is. "I see." He answered, unsure on if that would be a good or bad thing or not. "The rumor going on around my ex is that he was an evil medic, working in TRS and killing victims on the side. They could never prove that he was behind those killings and it worked out great for me since I'm AP. Well unless AP was being attacked, but what they didn't know, I figured wouldn't hurt me since I wasn't always around to notice." He explained, "Not that they'd care anymore, since he is dead." He added, still feeling like shit he had to kill his ex, despite knowing it had to be done.
"As for his daughter, my plan is to wait for TRS to give her up before I take her back." He explained, knowing Garret might not like the idea of a kid being in the picture of their relationship. "It wouldn't have been so bad, had she not seen me kill her dad right in front of her. I honestly thought she was going upstairs else I would have waited a bit." He explained, raising his hands to his face to rub his forehead. "This is really troublesome, also despite her seeing you, I don't think you really have to worry because it isn't like I'd give you up. As far as everybody is concerned, I was there alone." He added, lowering his hand he looked back towards Garret. "It is her word on what she saw but if they try and connect the dots, it is my word against hers." He added, not really worried about it too much. "Oh yes." He answered, withdrawing his phone from his pocket to start deleting the messages off of it.
"It would be smarter for me to delete everything off and destroy this phone too but I can't bring myself to lose our text messages." He chuckled before adding, "Well I mean the ones that I sent you that you haven't yet replied back to." He slowly smiled before slipping his phone back in his pocket. "The sooner I get her back, the sooner everybody can move on with their lives. It won't surprise me if they close the case or not bother working too hard on it because they'd view it as a favor had been done for them." He shrugged his shoulders, knowing some people wouldn't let it go but he'd deal with them later.

e does not receive a response concerning the whereabouts of the little girl, not yet, only greeted with a silence that Garret isn't so sure how to react with. But Ryker tells him about the medic, and he learns more about him even if he doesn't want to. It seems Ryker and the medic go way back, since the War of Traitors, a phenomenon he had heard of that had transpired from so long ago, before he was even born. Maybe that is why Ryker didn't want to kill him, he thinks, but all his thoughts are his for now and he doesn't say anything yet.
Ryker tells him of the cellphone and what he is doing with it, which is that in itself much obvious by now. Garret understands why he would want to do that. But soon enough, as Ryker takes out yet another phone from his pocket he realizes the phone he had just destroyed might not actually be his, but the medic's. But he stops himself from thinking about that right now. Ryker mentions not wanting to delete the messages of which Garret hadn't responded to yet. At this, he crosses his arms and shakes his head, smiling.
"Well, that's so very nice of you," He says, almost sarcastically. But it's nice to know his messages are still there. He makes a mental note to get a reply for them soon. Ryker soon moves on to telling him about retrieving the little girl from the TRS, and he shrugs. "Do what you want. I don't think they would mind, honestly, given the situation you've handed them," He says; the statement is not meant to be insensitive, though it certainly sounds like it through Garret's choice of tone.
Ryker knew that he'd have to get his ex's daughter back sooner rather then later but he wasn't sure how exactly he would go about doing it. She had after all, just seen him murder her father even though it was a mercy killing as well as saving her from him. He mentioned how he didn't want to delete his text messages even though it would be smarter to do so. "Maybe I'll wait... Get a reply back first." He teased Garret in return, since he had yet to get one from him. "Just means they might figure out it was me in the meantime but I don't mind waiting for you." He teased Garret some more, trying to cheer him up. He couldn't help but feel better when Garret had told him to do what he wanted. "Perhaps not, but there is somebody who'd love to get this information and I don't want him to have it." He mumbled, annoyed that Brasti would try and figure out who killed the evil medic and he was determined to keep him from figuring it out at all costs.
"I'll sleep on it and figure it out later." He answered after a few minutes. "So now what?" He'd ask, waiting on Garret to tell him what he wanted to do. Either to have him stay longer, or to send him on his way for now.

arret smirks as Ryker starts to tease him, amused with the demon's sudden behavioral changes. Well, it would be better this way. If they are to forget about that incident back at the medic's place, Garret thinks to himself, than that would be best. "Well, I do plan on responding to those messages..." He begins to tease back, taking a few steps towards Ryker in a slow pace, arms crossed in front of his chest. "But then... it wouldn't make sense for me to get to them right now when I'm in front of you, no~?" He continues, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
Ryker mentions who would love to obtain the information that he killed the medic, and says he did not want them to have it. Garret raises an eyebrow, wondering who that would be and why Ryker seems so displeased with them. But this time, unlike earlier, his inner thoughts exit through his words. "Well, I'd be asking who that would be, but it seems you do not like them too much," He says, shrugging his shoulders as he turns to the side. "I mean, you can tell me about them if you like, but I wouldn't force you to." Someone with an interest in Ryker seems intriguing to know about, after all. Garret would love to meet Ryker's friends... if he would not kill them first.
As Ryker asks what they should do next, Garret is left in silence for a bit. What do they do for the meantime while they have the day for each other... he supposes Polvu would not mind to have them back at his place, then. "Let's go back to Polvu's. I'm sure he wouldn't mind having us around... in fact, he might enjoy having to see you face to face." He tells him with a wink, and grabs his hand, prompting Ryker to come with him.
Ryker chuckled when Garret teased about planning on replying to his messages before stepping closer to him. "Of course they would, just got to multi-task." He teased in return, not being serious in the slightest. He then mentioned why it would be a big deal if information leaked about who had killed the medic, choosing to not go into details at this time. He didn't think Garret needed to know about Brasti and frankly he also just didn't want to talk about him. They were friends in the past and then Brasti had to like some fucking girl instead of him and to make matters even worse that bastard betrayed and fled with her. Any respect he had for Brasti had been gone as soon as he had betrayed them for her. "I don't like them at all." He answered, not wanting to disclose his feelings in the past on the matter. "If it becomes necessary I'll consider it." He answered, not budging on disclosing the information or making any promises that he knew he wouldn't likely keep anyway.
He changed the subject to ask what they should do next. "Alright." He answered in return, anywhere would be better than remaining outside. Now that he had a chance to be around Garret he wasn't about to pass it up for anything else. "Who knows, I mean frankly we work together." He shrugged his shoulders, not minding Polvu's company but he was all for doing his own thing instead of lingering around other AP member's homes. "I mean the most contact I had with him was when you wouldn't reach back out to me. Talk about so naughty." He teased, reaching to take Garret's hand in his before following him.

yker had asked about the person who would want information from him, and based on Ryker statements he could tell they were not exactly Ryker's fancy. Something must have happened between them that makes them grow distant as time passes by, but Garret was not one to pry on unnecessary information. Unless he could use such information to some extent as leads for a new target, he would leave it be. It's not something he should be bothering with; that would be a waste of time. With all that Ryker has said, he nods curtly, but does not say anything of the matter.
Ryker agrees to come back with him to Polvu's place. A smile graces his features as he tugs at the demon's hand, prompting him to follow; he does as he is signed, reaching for his hand as well. Garret leads the way to where the Alley of Burglars are; he's become acquainted with the place, and has grown familiar with its inner workings and how Polvu's operations work in that said alley. Polvu's dogs are hostile, but they are never laying a hand on him, as he is the royal brother being assisted by their king. Frankly, Garret thinks, they should not lay a hand on Ryker as well.
The alley is full of people this time, men, women, and children alike working on the errands given to them. Prying eyes watch as Garret leads him to the Polvu's house; he does not pay these any heed, and continues walking, until finally they come to the largest house, the one they'd been in earlier with his younger brother in tow. Garret stomps in, still holding on to Ryker's hand, and looks around the inside.
Unfortunately, Polvu is there, a handsome grin playing at his features. "Welcome back, brother~" Polvu coos, and goddammit he could kill him a lot of times if he were to repeat that tone at him. "And you brought your boyfriend in~! Come come, have a seat, have a seat~"
"Ah, Polvu, stop it will you." Garret hisses at his face, walking towards the black couch. Polvu simply rolls his eyes, turning back to his paperwork with his cheek propped on his hand; definitely a sign that he is more interested in Garret and Ryker than he is at his job. "I don't need you teasing me today; Ryker's done enough of it already."
