Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Josiah hadn't planned on coming out to the party but had decided at the last second that he'd dress up and hopefully find somebody to talk to once he was there. He couldn't help but hope that Harrison might be there so that he could stare at him from the distance but he'd settle for talking to just about anybody so long as he wouldn't be stuck at home being bored to dead the whole time. As soon as he finished getting ready, he went outside and started his way to Aria Village. On his way there, he met a few other AP members and they talked for a little bit but as soon as they got into the building they had split off in different directions and he had found himself alone once more. He slowly wandered towards the food table to grab a few snacks before moving towards the wall to lean against it. There were plenty of tables to sit at but he just couldn't bring himself to talk with people as he had once planned. With any luck, he would be approached by somebody who was daring enough to talk to him. With a small sigh, he looked away from the door to examine the room to see who else was here already.

arret knows that coming back to the Assembly is a bad idea. A very, very bad idea. He is a traitor to this criminal organization, and even though Polvu remains a soldier for the nightmare named Zeredah, it doesn't help at all. A soldier's reputation is important. Should one ever try to interact with a traitor, or has personal relations with them, they are instantly executed. It is a rule of thumb, something both brothers had learned ever since becoming soldiers for the Assembly.
However, he is only following orders issued by his very conscience.
I need to see Ryker again.
He looks around windows, tries to search for the other purple-haired man, but he does not leave any hints. Ryker is awful this way, Garret almost thinks, but with a few good searches and with a sharp eye, it will surely help in the hunt. So he continues surveying the surroundings, making sure to hide in the shadows so as to not attract attention. There is a flat chance he wouldn't be noticed, as his movements are quite obvious from the windows, but Garret is quick. Someone sees him, he immediately steps away and hides. The large windows have spaces where he can go on hiding, so he's quite safe.
Garret peaks in again and looks around. No Ryker around.
He groans inwardly and hides back into the shadows, clawing at his hair. He's craving for that demon everyday. He doesn't know when, or how he would have to get him for himself. Every night, he dreams of him everyday, and there is no erasing the memories of their secret meetings from his mind. There is a thing called patience, but Garret is never one to practice such when it comes to craving. It's only a matter of time before he is forced to kidnap the idiot and keep him forever in his room.
Garret sighs and sneaks a peek through the windows once more, before running off to hide behind another. Ryker is here. He knows it. He just has to search thoroughly.
Josiah couldn't help but feel highly disappointed after his examination of the room, that is until he noticed somebody outside the window. He looked away, curious on why somebody is outside when they should be inside enjoying the party. It isn't Harrison, he would have come in by this point or at the very least texted me. He thought to himself, slightly curious on where his crush was at. He would then look towards the window again, curious on if Garret would be peeking inside again but then would look away, so if Garret had peeked inside he had managed to miss it. By this point, he had finally grown tired of the party and found himself moving towards the exit of the building before making his way outside. His goal had been to avoid attention to himself, who ever had been outside, he didn't want to cause possible problems with them. Of course that might be impossible if that guy had noticed him staring right back at him before he had moved away from the window, hopefully he hadn't noticed.

omeone spots him from where he is. But the instant he sees the stranger looking his way, he immediately moves and hides, before peeking in again. He thought it was Ryker before. Punching himself for being wrong already seems like a good idea at this point. Why else would he ever see other men as Ryker, of all people? Was his imagination going rampant again, or is that his consciousness playing with him once more?
He stops at the fourth window and sighs, peeking in again to watch the people dancing to the music. It indeed seems like a wonderful party, and everything seems to be going well so far. But Garret refuses to join the people he used to work with, but are now his enemies. He would come if invited, but he could not risk execution in front of it. He just hopes Polvu is enjoying his time. Surely with the few people he knew for a long time, he would conquer shyness and talk to the others. In general, he just hopes his brother is okay.
( not that he wouldn't know, as his brother is always there whenever he needed assistance )
From the corner of his eye he could see a figure from just below him, and he turns to look, but keeps himself in the shadows of the house's roof. It's the same guy as before, and he's made sure he is not Ryker (brown hair is very different from blue). They don't seem to notice each other, but a sick idea comes to mind: asking for help.
Garret only figured the stranger was a member of the Assembly, as why else was he here? He smirks and remains where he is. "Excuse me?" He calls from the roof, making his voice louder as possible for the stranger to hear. But it would be bad if someone else heard.
"I would like some assistance in finding someone, if you may."
Josiah heard a voice coming from above him and looked at the roof to notice Garret that he had noticed peeking into the window earlier. He gave him a confused look, unsure of what Garret wanted and if he would be able to help him. Once Garret explained what he needed he gave him a sad smile. "Finding somebody?" He asked, moving closer to the building, unsure of how this guy was. If he could help, he'd try though he wasn't sure if he should be wary or feel safe around this guy because he had never met him before. "I.... I can try." He answered finally, deciding there wasn't any harm in trying. Though if he couldn't help him find the person he was looking for, he couldn't help but feel somewhat nervous on the possible outcome. He never felt comfortable unless he was around his crush. Other AP members or TRS even, he just couldn't bring himself to trust them even though he was a medic for AP.

he other man doesn't seem to doubt him. Oh, he could laugh all day at this young man's mistake. Garret is a subject of distrust, and he is a man not to be trusted or allied with unless one person is close to them. But he's not in the mood for murder for the night. He came to search for his 'sweetheart', that stupid Ryker who keeps slipping out of his fingertips almost every time when he gets the chance. It's only right for Garret to ask for help when he needs it, even if he's asking them from strangers.
He smiles at the young man's reply; for Garret, there is no such thing as trying. Once you admit to help someone, you are bound to it, especially if you happen to know what his client wants. He chuckles almost dastardly as he is, jumping down from the roof and he lands on the ground with a thud. "Thank you. I really needed your help tonight." He stated, standing up from his crouched position.
"I figure you must be a member of the Assembly. Why else would you be here enjoying their party?" He walks towards the other man and comes into the light, a small smile on his face. "Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Oh yes, where was I... right. I need you to help me find someone. Your fellow member, that is."
He stops just a few inches from the other, blowing off smoke from his hands as it starts blazing with fire. "Do you know anyone named Ryker Lawrence, mister?" He asks, shared with an expression not most amused. Ryker may be famous for being "Peter Pan" of the Assembly, Polvu had told him after the previous encounter in the battlefields. Maybe it's time to test that fact right now.
Josiah couldn't help but feel nervous when Garret laughs and jumps the roof before landing on the ground. He watched as the man had stood up from his crouched position. "I am a member but anybody can come as long as they know somebody in AP." He didn't know who this guy was and that he had a brother in AP, he just hoped admitting to be AP hadn't put him on a list for possible danger. He was only a medic after all. "You want me to help you find another AP member?" He asked, surprised by that request, unsure on if he can help him or not. Garret stepped closer, blowing smoke from his hands as they start to burn with fire.
It was a mistake going outside, wasn't it? He thought to himself, stepping away, wishing that Harrison was here. "Are they the same person?" He didn't know everybody in AP, focusing on healing over making connections with them. "I didn't see him at the party." He answered, unsure on the location. Of course it seemed like a back idea to walk away slowly when this guy very well might try and attack him. Though if he went back inside the building, he might be safe in there since there were other members of AP in there. Surely if this guy wanted to find somebody he wouldn't go attacking the building with a bunch of AP in it, would he?

here is a hint of nervousness in the man's voice, though he may just be imagining it. But every voice has its tone in certain situations. Some can hear sadness or pain in the scene of murder or death, and some can hear the excited tone of a laughing person in a birthday event. Today, he hears nervousness. Fear. Does he really scare other people for him to have them not answering him quite properly?
But this man is different. He is still brave, but he still seems quite nervous in front of him. Amusement glints in his eyes as he stares at the young man, his hands running inside his pockets and staying there for a while. "Are you alright? You seem frightened." He asks, almost in a mock tone of concern. "Don't you worry, my boy. I'm not going to kill you. I;m only asking a question here."
People entering the Assembly's quarters to enjoy the party, even if you are not a member yourself, quite surprises the faekin. His eyes slightly widen as this new information is being taken in. "So the Assembly allows mere commoners who are in relations with their members to enjoy the party? Hmm... that's quite interesting. And good to know." He sends a wink to the young man, then looks away and sighs. "But then again... I'm a labeled traitor, so I'd still be killed."
His impatience to know more about Ryker's whereabouts is flaring, but he does not show it to his company. Instead, once he confirms he does not know where Ryker is headed, he nods and sighs. "Really now? No Ryker Lawrence around to be seen?" He asks again, but soon afterward allows a cough to escape his mouth, landing on his fist. "I am... very sorry for being this annoying. Had you not been the only one around here, I could be asking multiple others about him."
Josiah side glances, "I'm fine." It was a lie, he had trouble trusting others and when it came to not knowing them, he was easily frightened by them, but Garret didn't need to know that. Hearing the Garret's words didn't make him feel any better. "More then likely they'd have to be with the person apart of AP, but I have seen people in there that aren't AP but the one that is, is lurking somewhere else. That isn't proof of them not being there though, I just don't know where in the room they are at." He answered, flinching when Garret admitted to being a traitor. "Yeah it doesn't look good when you join and then leave." He mumbled, that was why after he joined he forced himself to stay, the fear of dying had become too much.
He had answered Garret's question about the guy he was searching for but it seemed Garret needed more proof on the subject. "If your still here later, I could always tell you if I see him." He offers, trying to be helpful, though if he didn't see him before he highly doubted Garret would stick around for him to tell him. "I'm the only one outside, the rest of the people are inside. Maybe if they come out, they could tell you where he is at?" He asked, still trying to be helpful, unaware of how dangerous Garret could be. Though his fear was still there and he couldn't help but feel a great need to going back inside the building himself.

ear in other's faces is a glorious sight. But being unnecessarily afraid of something that doesn't even cause them harm can get somewhat annoying. Looking at the other's rather puzzled answers and nervousness, he couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Garret is not even planning on killing anyone this night... well, unless it includes the annoying demon he has been searching for. But being afraid of him is not even necessary. He even had the nerve to deny it as nothing!
This clearly doesn't amuse the faekin, but he decides to be silent about it, instead nodding once the other man tells him he would talk to him if he would be here for more than a few hours. "Oh... I think I'll be here forever." He mutters in a rather exhausted tone; a yawn escapes his lips and he tries to fan his breath back inside his mouth with a hand waving in front of it. "I still have more things to settle with that man. Stupid demon, not telling me where he even is."
He finds himself grinning at the other's statement of leaving. "I knew it wasn't." He says in a rather quiet voice, his hands in his pockets. "But it's boring, really, to follow orders from a woman who thinks destroying the world is a chore that absolutely needs to be done sooner or later. Sorry to say, but I don't like chores. Killing is simply a habit for me."
Mentioning the party, Garret tilts his head slightly to the side before turning his head to the entrance. True... maybe if he asked the participants about Ryker's whereabouts, then he may have answers. "...I'll stick around and enjoy the party, then." He chuckles to himself, walking to enter the building and signifying with his hand for the other to follow him. "How about you come on back inside and help me? I've got better things to do than this."
His voice seems to echo through the trees surrounding the building, until silence -- a deafening silence -- envelopes the entire area from where he had been standing.
Ryker had been here or there, always finding himself stalking Garret. So he knew that his crush was looking for him, so it made it all the easier to hide from his view. Though his crush had decided to go inside the party and he wasn't willing to allow such a clash to unfold. He liked Garret too much to watch this mess involve AP too. So he had come out of his hiding spot to creep behind him, attempting to scare the crap out of him but as long as he got his arms around him long enough to whisper a phrase it would be good enough. "If you wanted my number, all you had to do was ask." He playfully whispered, pulling away to give himself some distance from Garret.
No he wasn't seeing things, yes it was Ryker standing across from him. He had a smirk on his face as he watched Garret. It wasn't fair that he was being so mean to his crush, but he still had a boy friend and he couldn't do that to Garret, not when his boy friend didn't even know of his harbored feelings towards another man. Of course it wouldn't be long before his boy friend started to lose it so he would have to put him out of his misery, to his displeasure. "How about we have a party of our own?" He teased, stepping away because he knew Garret would likely follow after him. If he chose not to, he'd lift his hand up to beckon him to come closer.
Josiah wasn't sure how to reply so he remained quiet instead. He listened to Garret's words, it sounded like to him he had been braver to leave. It made sense since he seemed like he could take care of himself unlike him, he needed to be on a side and it wasn't so bad now that his friend was with him but still, he knew AP wasn't the right choice but he couldn't just up and leave it. The subject had been changed back to the party and he was surprised that Garret was more than willing to go inside just to talk to people. He had meant if they had gone outside, it was dangerous for him to go inside, wasn't it? "Alright." He agreed, planning on following Garret inside until he had seen a purple hair fellow come from behind to hug Garret. He went inside the building making sure to have as much distance from the two of them as much as possible, somewhat hoping that was the demon Garret had been looking for.

arret is happy to know that they've come to terms; the other male seems happy to oblige to his needs. And so he proceeds to enter the doors of one of the Assembly's party houses, intent on either enjoying the party, talking with Polvu, or of course, searching for Ryker. The third option is more than just a pain; but he knew it would absolutely be worth it... if he ever found him.
He looks around and watches as the party resumes, the stench of alcohol and perfume all around the walls of the large house. No one is paying him any attention, thankfully... save for this young man who he happens to recruit on a search for the dastardly Ryker Lawrence. But he feels no presence from the other young man, and this makes him raise an eyebrow; did he decide to leave in fear of being killed? Or... did he really not want to partake in the search at all?
Garret groans exasperatedly and is about to turn his head around. "Look, you only should have told me earlier if you didn't want to--" But he is cut short when arms suddenly wrap around him, and he almost gasps in surprise, arms extended above his abdomen as he looks at the arms hugging him right now. He hears the familiar voice in his ear, and he shivers slightly, swallowing his own saliva.
He turns his head and playfully glares at none other than Ryker Lawrence, than demon he had been searching for. "You." He says rather sharply, his grip on his arms tightening as he continues looking at him with every second. "Where have you--"
The faekin is almost distracted once Ryker lets go of him, walking away a few meters from where he is and beckoning him to come closer. Of course he does, but rather quickly; he stomps his way towards the demon and punches him on the arm. "Where were you?! I spent the whole night searching for you in different party houses!" His voice is raised like that of a whiny little child's. "I even asked someone to help look for you with me." He pouts, but looking around he finds his earlier companion no longer there. "Speaking of which... he's already gone." He adds with a raised eyebrow.
And all so suddenly, his expression changes and he bites his lower lip, trailing his fingers across the other man's chest. "Which leaves you with me... there's no escape for you now, that is for sure."
Ryker couldn't help but grin from Garret's reaction to him. "No?" He had teased playfully as he moved away from him. When Garret punched him in the arm, he chuckled. "Around." He answered, keeping the answer vague on purpose. The fact of the matter was, he spent much of his freetime stalking Garret from a distance, but his crush didn't need to know that. "I don't go to party houses..." He answered, chuckling as he listened to Garret rant to him. "Unless my lovely Garret thinks about going inside because then I have to save him from those bratty AP..." He knew there was a chance the members of AP would give Garret a hard time. He didn't want them doing it though so he had intervened just in time. If anybody had a brother with Blood Fairy being here, he'd gladly kick their ass to remind them that he was still loyal and very much attached to Garret.
Hopefully it wouldn't come to that though because he didn't want tension with AP members if he could help it. He smirked when Garret admitted that he had even asked for help to search him out. "I'm telling you.... I think you forgot to grab my phone number last time." He answered with a smug grin on his face, clearly amused with how this night was turning out. "You seem to have this lovely aura.... Encouraging others to stay away, I just don't care." He still has that smug grin on his face, enjoying spending his free time with Garret. He is somewhat surprised when Garret traced his finger along his chest. "Why would I leave? I finally got here." He teased, knowing sooner or later all good things had to come to an end, but not right now, not while he was enjoying this.

H
e huffs and crosses his arms at the answer given to him. He claims to be "around", but he hasn't even seen him "around", which proves this answer to be a huge falsity. Garret doesn't even get Ryker sometimes. He feels like he's lying and every time he point this out, Ryker shoves it off and regards it as nothing more of a simple inquiry. But Garret is in no mood for this to happen anymore. He should at least be content that Ryker is here.
He smirks and rolls his eyes as Ryker mentions having to save him from the Assembly again. "I'm not a damsel to be saved, Ryker. I could take care of myself just fine." Burning them all down is always an option, Garret muses. It's a dream he's always wanted to happen, but then again, without an organization that wants nothing more but to raise conflict it wouldn't be fun to live in this Earth anymore. If they attack him, however, he's sure to do it without any reconsideration. There's a certain hatred he's been harboring against the AP, after all.
"It's sad to say that your number would be pointless. I don't bring my phone around, only at home." He sticks his tongue out, intention of being joking. Later, however, his cheeks burn red and he looks away instinctively. "But then again... it wouldn't really be a bad idea to be calling you..." He turns to the demon and glares playfully. "Just to know what you're up to."
Garret finds himself grinning once Ryker tells him he's already here. But of course. If he ever makes an attempt to leave Ryker would probably just have to tie him down. "Mhmm, and don't even try on escaping. I could tie you like a dog if I wanted to." There's a slight hint of lustful sadism in his voice, but nothing more comes out after that.
