Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

gideon gritted his teeth after reading the last text from demy. what the hell was she thinking. how could she of gotten herself hurt. he felt like a failure. here he was hired to protect her and he didn't even know until he had to practically pull it out of her. he wondered how much longer she would of kept quiet about it. he was angry, but mostly at himself for letting this happen. he sighed and grabbed his jacket and car keys. she had said she was somewhere near the library. that was the first place he was going to check. of course not the inside, as she had mentioned being outside near it.
after finding a parking spot he began his search. his mind was racing. what the hell was she doing out here. sure he had the day off, running errands and the like. she had been home when he had taken off or at least that what he thought. he had returned home and found it empty. he walked past the front door of the library and headed towards the back alley. was something chasing her? how did she end up getting hurt? so many questions he needed to ask, but his eyes kept searching."princess!"he called out hoping for a response.
Demetria found herself struggling to text when her arm was still bleeding after being shot a few minutes ago. Though she had been running away from the person, glancing behind herself, proved that the enemy was having an easy time keeping up with her. There was just no running away from this person, no much how much she tried she just couldn't shake them off of her. Her phone went beep, but blood being smeared along the screen of her phone made it too slippery for her to text him back. He may have left, but if he thinks I'll sit around at home when I have things to do, he has another thing coming.... She rounded another corner, once more peeking behind herself to see how close the enemy was.
To her disappointment, they were closer to her than she would have liked, forcing her to side step as the bullet could be heard as the AP member shot at her once more. If it hadn't been for her checking behind herself, she wouldn't have seen him aiming to shoot at her once again. Seeing as she had told Gideon she was near the library, she found herself running back towards that direction. After admitting she got shot and had somebody following after her, he was bound to search her out. The last thing she wanted to do was give him a hard time in finding her. More shots could be heard, she tried dodging them, but lost her balance in the process. Damn. She pressed her hands against the ground, not wasting any time to stand up, just as the AP member reloaded their gun, aiming at her, preparing to fire.
six months. that's all he had to endure. truth be told he had been counting down the days, weeks and months till he was free. his goal was to always go back home and hopefully get his job back. he was told it would be waiting for him when he got back. the only reason he was doing this was because he was recommended and of the fact that he needed to lay low for some time.
it was such a rookie mistake. he had gotten way too involved in something he shouldn't have. he didn't want to admit it to himself. more likely because he wasn't honestly sure when it had happened. soon he didn't care how long he had left. he was enjoying his time here. after receiving her final messages he wasn't sure what to feel. he was of course angry and was that worry and concern hanging around as well?
sure he would be concerned, after all he was getting paid to protect her. he didn't want to admit to himself that perhaps there might be something more. it was too cliche.
he had called out to her, figuring her favorite nickname would get her to yell. he received no response. as he drew closer he heard a ringing. or at least that's what it sounded to him. the closer he got the better he could hear it. it was only then did he realize what the sound truly was. gun shots. what the hell did she get herself into. he had teased her about joining her, just to keep an eye on her.
he had seen her fight terrors a few months back. she wasn't great, but she managed to keep herself alive. if anything she had annoyed that feisty green haired boy. which was very entertaining to say the least. another shot rang and it brought him back to reality. the last shot sounded very close. he took a chance and ran faster. another shot rang and before he knew it he had found them.
he watched her run, arm cradled. she hadn't seen him yet. he wouldn't reach her in time. so he stopped and before the person chasing after to her knew it he projected a barrier between them."need some back up?"he asked her a smirk forming on his face. his eyes fixated on the person with the gun. despite their bullets not hitting their target they continued to unload.
The bullets had been fired, Demetria knew that if they hit her she would be done for. Not because gun bullets killed but because they were cursed and she wouldn't be able to heal with all the wounds along her body. A barrier had been created, keeping her from being hit. She glanced to the side to see him standing there with a smirk on his face. "I'm surprised you didn't demand that I needed backup." She countered, finding their arguments back and forth at times amusing. Now that she had a chance to catch her breath, she might have a chance to capture the bastard that had shot at her in the first place. It seemed to her, that barrier had caught the AP member but surprise and they were backing away from them. She lifted the radio to her lips, reporting the AP member that had shot at her only moments prior.
"Did you really want me to tell you that I was leaving when you were off duty?" She asked, surprised since that is how his text message had sounded to her when he had sent it. Of course by this point the cell phone was smeared with her blood because her arm was bleeding and it had dripped along the phone. I'm going to have to clean this off once I get home. She thought to herself, not making effort to clean it because she was holding her sore arm. Of course she didn't exactly want the damn thing in her pocket when it had blood all over it either. "Do you still want me to take you to the doctor?" She asked, knowing he had been messing around earlier. No harm in returning the favor since he was here in all of his glory. I should see a doctor... get this bullet out.... get some stitches.... Hell maybe even take some time off, will I though? Hell no.
he maintained the shield and walked closer to her. he rolled his eyes at her comment."had i known you needed back up i would of been here and maybe you wouldn't of been so foolish and get yourself hurt."he said looking at her and her injured arm. the blood seemed to be flowing at a slow pace. it probably didn't help that she had running and moving around so much.
as soon as she started to speak he turned his attention to the culprit. he shook his head and pulled up another barrier, trapping the person inside."you try anything funny and your cage will get smaller."he warned them with a cold tone. he returned his attention back to demy."i thought you were past keeping secrets. i can't protect you when you keep leaving me behind."he told her with a serious look on his face. it was apparent that he was worried about her. he hoped it wasn't evident. though of course he was suppose to care, but it wasn't just because of the paycheck he was earning."we have to stop the bleeding."he told her as he ripped a piece of his shirt to tie around her arm."stand still princess. we have to apply pressure."he told her hoping she would at least let him help her.
"so you do care."he laughed at her comment. it was clear who really needed the medical attention."im fine. it's you that needs to see a doctor."he told her."how long before your buddies show up? i'll take you myself."
Demetria shook her head at him. "I know." The words had come out as a whisper. She hadn't wanted to burden him, it seemed as if late she found herself caring about what was important and what wasn't. It was strange, caring about possibly wasting his time, despite paying him when he was on duty as her body guard. She couldn't bring herself to admit that to him though. She was pulled from her thoughts when the culprit tried escaping and Gideon had put a barrier around them, trapping them in place. She sighed at his words, secrets were needed as to protect her from being hurt emotionally. "I didn't think you'd care this much." She answered after a long moment of being silent. He was off duty, so it didn't make any sense for him to get worried about her like this.
If he had been duty it would make sense. Of course in the back of her mind she knew that logic wouldn't be fair because she enjoyed being around him even if he had his moments of purposely being annoying towards her. Half the time it seemed to be on purpose but it was possible he did it on accident, she wasn't sure. Gideon had wrapped a piece of his shirt before wrapping his around her arm. She held her arm out, holding still so that he could put pressure on her arm when he wrapped the fabric around her arm to stop the bleeding. "At this rate, I'm better off giving you a nickname in return." She countered, rolling her eyes at the idea of being called a princess by him. She asked him about the doctor and his laughing made her grin slightly. "Of course I care." She answered him back, "I'm not a royal pain in the ass, you know." She joked, grinning when he gave his answer back to her.
Before she could answer, the other TRS hunters had rounded the corner to capture the AP member that had attacked her only moments prior. "It looks like they are here right now." She answered him back, knowing that he'd likely keep his promise on taking her to the hospital himself. "So.... are you riding or walking?" She joked, as if he would stick her in a taxi without him. But then again, there weren't any taxi's in sight, so maybe walking would be the best option in the long run. Too bad for her, she was tired of walking, having been running only moments prior.
he stayed quiet at her words of acknowledgement. he was completely surprised she had even agreed with him. it always seemed like their views were different on everything. so to have her actually agree with him was a little shocking.
he finished tying the make shift bandage around her arm. he sighed softly and ran his fingers through his hair. he wasn't sure how it happened or why, but he did worry about her. she was so reckless and clueless at times. he often wondered if she had any common sense at all. she was too busy trying to prove herself to others or the world. he wondered if she cared about getting hurt.
he spoke softly and looked at her."of course i care. i wouldn't of came if i didn't. you're my responsibility. do you know how guilty i would feel if i failed you..."gideon said a bit embarrassed, eventually he looked away. sure they were always fighting and joking around, well mostly it consisted if him teasing her, but still he felt close to her. she certainly wasn't his type, but yet here he was making himself feel vulnerable.
he cleared his throat trying to seem like things were not awkward. he chuckled at her words."took you six long months to come up with something. i knew you were slow."he said with a teasing grin.
again he was surprised by her words."oh princess, but you are. though i wouldn't have it any other way."he smiled at her reassuringly. he heard more commotion behind them and he turned to see other trs members taking care of the captive. he dropped the shields allowing them access.
he turned his attention back to her and shook his head."how did you think i got here so fast? i brought the car. do you want me to carry you?"he asked as he moved closer to her. ready to pick her up and carry her to the car."just say the word."he said with a wink.
Demetria was surprised to hear his words, though she knew that he likely would feel guilty, she hadn't expected his face expression to appear embarrassed. It almost seemed like something was there but she wasn't willing to accept that. "Don't tell me your falling in love with me? We agreed not to." She teased, unsure on how else to comment back to him. She rolled her eyes when he made his comeback. "What ever." She would answer him back, between the two of him, he was always the winner or teasing her instead of the other way around. One of these days she was going on a winning streak on returning the favor. She grinned when he answered her question, "Oh you know, I just thought you ran because you felt like it." She teased, having to give him an answer since he had asked. To his question, she couldn't help but blush slightly, her cheeks increased in redness when he had moved closer to her. "Did you want to carry me?" She asked, seeing as he seemed all prepared, she might as well not argue with him this time. "Go ahead, I knew you wanted to carry me this whole time." She joked, trying to tease him back.
gideon raised an eyebrow and laughed. he couldn't believe, actually he could, but for her to pull that line it was a bit ironic. the smirk on his face didn't leave even after what he said to her."so what if i am. princess, i never agreed to a thing."funny how one minute they were being serious and the next they were cracking jokes. had it been anyone else they would of probably thought they were weird. it was just how their relationship had developed. they were always teasing each other.
he chuckled softly at her weak come back. if there was a clear winner it was always him. he had to at least give her points for trying. now it was his turn to roll his eyes."had it been you, im sure you would of ran all the way here."he teased her with a smile.
"you know you're cute when you blush."he told her with a playful smirk. she had directed the question back to him and he closed the distance between them. he was careful not to hurt her arm that he had wrapped a few minutes ago. he placed one hand around her waist and the other underneath her legs and hoisted her up."you're heavier than you look princess."he said with a laugh obviously teasing her."you read my mind."he teased her once more before he started walking towards the car.
Demetria couldn't help but smirk when he had laughed, she knew that she had won this round and there was nothing he could do about it. "Oh?" She asked, of course they never agreed to falling towards each other but they never said they would either. She had just assumed that he wouldn't as she had told herself that she wouldn't and yet here she was, finding herself struggling with these strange emotions. At least he was okay, that was all that mattered. "What? You don't think I can drive?" She asked before adding, "For you, I would run all the way over here...." She teased, not that she would pick him up and carry him away, just having to deal with cars when she didn't have one here would be such a hassle, it would be easier to carry him until she could flag down a taxi.
Besides she was fast, who needed a vehicle when you had her speed? She found herself blushing more to his comment. "So? We weren't talking about my blush." She reached out to poke his cheek, "But yours on the other hand..." She started, oh yes, she had seen his face and wasn't going to let him live it down. Gideon had picked her up, she had allowed him, carefully wrapping her arms around his neck so that if he lost his grip she would still have one to hold on, not that it would be on purpose or anything. "Looks like somebody has been slacking on working out...." She teased him back, What am I doing? I can't have such thoughts. I need to stop. I need to stop before it progresses any further. She thought to herself, struggling with forcing her emotions to settle down.
it seemed like he had caught her by surprise. now it was his turn to smirk."oh? is that all you have to say?"he asked with a small laugh. as he continued on his way. he was glad to leave the group of people behind. he really didn't need an audience at that moment.
he shook his head at her next comment."i never said that. though i've never seen you drive. do you even know how?"he asked her teasingly. he hadn't though this place had taken him a few minutes to find. eventually, after a few wrong turns they found themselves on the sidewalk."hush, it was a miracle i even found you in that maze."he told her as he looked both ways before crossing."i was not blushing. i have naturally rosy cheeks."he told her with a smirk."don't change the subject. we were talking about how cute you look."
he smiled, but rolled his eyes at her."my hero."he said as he reached the car. he had to set her down to search for the keys. unlocking the car he opened the door for her and closed it once she was inside. she had teased him about his lack of strength."haha, very funny."he said clearly amused as he put the car into drive and started towards the hospital.
