Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

his week had started out great and then half way through it someone decided to mess it up. not to mention some of the cases he had to work on. seriously how pathetic could people be. especially the ones that were guilty. alas, he didn't get to pick and chose who he wanted to represent. he simply needed to win. today he had won, but he wished he hadn't. he could tell his client wasn't remorseful, but they had money and you know what they say. money makes the world go round. everyone has a price and so on and so forth.
he was ready for a drink. the driver dropped him off at the crown. he got out of the car and made a beeline towards the door. he scanned the room for a drink. honestly anyone would do. he frowned slightly as he didn't see anyone he liked. he moved towards the counter and took a seat. he would just have to give it some time.
he wasn't vain or anything, but he knew he was good looking. it would only take a matter of time before someone tried to buy him a drink. though at the moment he would buy his own. he flirted with the bartender while he ordered his beverage. maybe he'd pick her. she was pretty cute. he got his drink, on the house. he sipped it while he watched the bartender attend to another costumer.
Demetria had waved a taxi down. Not that she minded walking, it was just, when her parents phone called her about a possible client interested in seeing her designs, she had thought it would be a good idea to meet up with them in person. The Golden Crown had been the chosen destination. Her bodyguard was nowhere to be found, most likely enjoying his time off because he wasn't currently on the clock. She wore a short red dress, seeing as many of her meetings were always in business attire. It would give her a chance to show off her design even before pulling out her laptop to show the rest. As the car drove, she thought about what she would say once she saw them. The taxi came to a stop and she pulled out her wallet to hand the driver his money before walking towards the door.
She would then go inside and find a table near the back. She hadn't come here for a drink, only to meet with the person she planned on meeting. Within a few minutes the man had showed up and had taken a seat across from her. She talked about her designs with him, even showing him the designs on the computer. Within a few minutes and it seemed like the conversation was going well, her parents would be so pleased with her. He had stood up to go the counter to order a few drinks before coming back with them. "Oh, no thank you." She wasn't against drinking, it was just that she had too much work to do that she didn't feel like she had time. He didn't seem to mind though because he drank both down before standing up to get more drinks. Well this is just awkward... She put her laptop back in the bag, slowly standing from the table.
The man had come back with more drinks before taking a seat, not use realizing that she was leaving. "Well, it was a pleasure to meet you." She would answer, ready to get out of there. The guy would suddenly stand up from his seat before reaching out to grab her wrist. Bad choice. She thought to herself, twisting before pinning his wrist behind his back. "Well I leave, you sit right here...." She would force him to sit before releasing him. She then would glance to see who all was in the The Golden Crown, catching a glance at a handsome guy sitting at the counter. She would then look away to head towards the door.
he was close to getting her to meet up with him later. then some guy had to interrupt his progress. he rolled his eyes and sighed softly before taking another drink. he turned two watch the man grab his drinks and move back to whatever table he had been sitting at. it seemed like the guy had a date. or at least that's what it appeared to him.
he chuckled to himself as he watched the scene. the guy seemed to have no problem downing both drinks. he said nothing as the man returned for more. he watched the girl. she was pretty. then he started laughing. it seemed like the date wasn't going well. things were going from bad to worse. he watched her trying to leave. he stayed in his seat. he watched what happened next. he wasn't worried in the slightest.
they made eye contact and he smirked raising his glass as if to toast to her. that little display. she seemed to be just fine.her eventually decided to speak."nice moves."
Demetria had stopped walking to glance back towards the guy at the counter who had commented on the scene only moments prior. "I suppose." She would answer back, somewhat curious on if this guy planned on putting the moves on her next or if there was the slightest chance he was only interested in a conversation. "One shouldn't be trying to flirt with your company when it is work related, it would be bad for the business." She explained, telling him about why it hadn't worked out with the other guy. Why did I tell him that? It isn't like he needed to know, nor would he likely care. She thought to herself, looking back at the door she sighed. All this way for a business deal and it might be ruined because this guy was more interest in sleeping with me over staying sober to talk about it some more.... She was having trouble deciding on if she really planned to leave or not, it wasn't like she had a reason to stay here, did she?
he chuckled softly at her response. what was he doing? clearly the girl wasn't his type. sure she was pretty. maybe it was the hunger talking. honestly he didn't think she would stop and respond. he took another drink before setting his glass down."yes, i agree. it's bad to mix both. business and pleasure, especially if only one party is interested."he said with a nod.
"couldn't help, but notice he didn't get you anything to drink."he told her with a disapproving look at the man."how about i buy you a drink?"
Demetria was never interested in pleasure or at least that is what she told herself. Of course hearing him say it almost made her feel like he might be hinting that she wasn't fun. Well so be it, at least for once it wasn't being hinted at by Gideon. Maybe this guy liked her. Oh how nice it would be for her to be allowed to tell him off if he tried anything like the last guy had just done only moments prior. "Exactly." She agreed, then he mentioned her not getting a drink. "Oh yeah, that was by my choice not his...." She answered, surprised that he was offering her a drink. Maybe I will.... I mean one won't hurt, besides I hadn't met him for business and I doubt he'll get very far with pleasure. She moved towards the counter to take a seat. "Alright." She agreed, curious on what he would do now.
elliott took another drink and nodded. he really had no idea what else to say on the topic. honestly it was hard to know who you are dealing with till you meet them."maybe next time you're out for a business you shouldn't go alone."he told her with a nod."you know it's true what they say. safety in numbers."he said with a small smile."it's obvious you can take care of yourself, but that's always a hassle, having to fight off your business partners advances."her told her."not that i condone that type of behavior, but i can see why. you're very pretty."
"now, im just stating a fact."he nodded once more at her words. well it seemed like he would have to find a meal some place else. he was surprised by her answer. he raised an eyebrow curiously, but gave her a smile before waving down the bartender."you strike me like someone who would like something sweet...amaretto sour for the lady."he said to the bartender once they showed up.
he pushed the amber colored drink garnished with a maraschino cherry towards her."if you don't like it i'll get you something different."he told her with another smile.
Demetria shook her head, grinning slightly. "Though that is a true statement, I'll have to pass. I'd rather take my chances." She wasn't one for backing down and she wasn't going to beg Gideon to come along with her when ever she left the house. He only had to follow her around on duty and it was in his right to have space from her. Besides she honestly thought she could handle most of her problems without help. "I won't lie, I came prepared for that possibility." By prepared she meant she had a feeling that she might need to handle it and she didn't want him thinking that was all she would do if one tried sleeping with her. She found herself surprised by his comment before he ordered her a drink. She would accept it to be polite, besides he seemed friendly enough. As long as he played his cards right, she might stay just a little bit longer. "And what would you like?" She changed the subject, trying to get more information about himself. She reached for the glass, picking it up before taking a sip of it. This is really good. Instead of making a comment she continued drinking it slowly.
he takes another drink while he listens to her agree, but disagree with what he just said. he simply shrugged his shoulders. maybe it was because he didn't like unexpected surprises. yet here he was alone. he wasn't a super famous lawyer, but he was certain he had made some enemies along the way. they left him alone for now.
he never really feared for his life. not even when he was close to death. he found it rather funny. a cosmic justice if you will. he is thoughts were interrupted by her surprising remark. she was expecting it? it made him curious to know what line of work she was in. he could guess some sort of business, but what type."if you don't mind me inquiring, what exactly is your line of work?"
her drink was made and he watched her for a reaction. he was soon distracted by her question about what he was drinking. he motioned to the bartender for another."rum and coke. did you want to taste?"he offered nonchalantly.
Demetria listened to his question, a small smirk had formed on her face. "I'm a fashion designer." She paused, of course he'd likely have questions on why she was out here instead of back home, creating her ideas. "Many of my ideas, I put on my computer, that was a business deal meeting." She didn't want him assuming that she was only out here for meetings, no, she also designed her outfits trying businesses to sell them too. "When you create as many outfits as I have, it is nice to spread out who sell those outfits to that the population gets a chance to view them." She paused, somewhat curious on his line of work. "How about you, what do you do?" She asked him as she drank the drink he had ordered for her.
It was good, she hadn't planned on having anymore but it was just too tempting. Before she could get another one, she had asked him what he was drinking. He answered and asked if she wanted to taste it. "Sure." She answered, slowly taking it from him to try it. "Not bad..." She answered, handing it back to him. "Though I sorta like the other one better." She couldn't help but wonder if sharing a drink counted as kissing. Of course not, but they still shared germs. Even if she had enjoyed it more than the one he ordered for her, she couldn't bring herself to jump in drinking more of it. He'd likely order her one instead of sharing a glass with her anyway. What is a guy like him doing in a place like this anyway? It was hard to want to leave when he was just good company.
he took another sip from his glass. he was not going to admit he had thought she was some kind of personal assistant or secretary type. he simply chuckled softly."fashion design. interesting. well i was almost correct. i did have you pegged as some sort of ceo type."he told her, not completely lying.
"is drawing an essential skill to have if one desires to design?"he asked her."do you sell the designs or the clothes themselves?"in order to keep a conversation going you had to make sure the other person knows you're interested in what they are saying. elli had no idea why he was asking so many questions. perhaps it was the hunger?
he chuckled softly. he wasn't expecting her to ask. she seemed content rambling on and on about her job. which was fine, it just showed she was really enthusiastic about it or she thought highly of herself. he wondered if she or her designs were well known. he took another drink and figured it was best to answer her question."nothing as exciting as your career of choice. im a lawyer."he told her with a small smile.
he chuckled softly at her words."you can have the rest of mine if you like and i'll have the rest of yours."
"Oh?" She asked, somewhat amused with his honestly. "For some people, it might be. Though I draw and design on my computer. More so on the computer though just because some designs will take hours on end and when I come into a meeting, sometimes it is based off of an idea of what the customer might want over selling my complete idea to them. In other words, sometimes they request a customize. If it is my idea, I tend to draw them out before creating an example, then upload the pictures onto the computer since it is less stuff." She explained, the only time she bothered bringing a design with her was if her parents were viewing it. "Both, but I mostly sell the designs.
If I find freetime I make extras to sell off, but my part of the business deals with the designs themselves." She explained, then changed the subject onto him. "I don't know, I hear lawyers get lots of attention, surely that is excitement?" She didn't care for the attention, much more of a fan of staying in the back while her designs hit the spotlight, though lawyers had nowhere to hide. Not when the purpose of their job was to find evidence either for or against the person on trial. "Which one are you?" She asked, curious on if he was a defense attorney or prosecutor. She raised her brow, "Alright." She handed the drink over to him, planning on drinking his as he had suggested to hers. Unaware that he might have suggested it purely for a drink.
he took another sip of his drink. why did he ask her that question. she continued to talk and talk about designs and drawings and computers. honestly he didn't care. it wasn't like he recognized who she was. was she a famous designer? he honestly didn't care. sure he cared about how he looked and made sure his clothes were clean and nicely put together, but he wasn't the type to pick out designer labels and the such. that didn't interesting him."do you draw anything other than clothes?"there he was asking questions again.
he nodded feigning interest."how interesting. you must be full of ideas. thought that does seem like so much to process. especially when you have to make your own design."he lied and wishing they could change the subject. it seemed like he got his wish when she directed a question at him.
he chuckled."i believe ever job has their own form of excitement."he smiled before running a hand through his hair, combing back strands that had fallen in his eyes."i believe it's all the cases one takes. the more controversial the better the headlines."he said with a shrug."honestly i could careless about the media. the spotlight really isn't for me."he told her with a nod as he handed her his drink. there was still plenty left. he took her in return and downed the rest before answering her question."defense."
Demetria couldn't help but chuckle slightly, "Sometimes, but they don't pay so I try and avoid distractions at all costs." She wasn't about to go into details about her hobbies, the last thing she wanted was to risk getting close to another person. "Not really." She answered, feeling somewhat prideful on the subject. She was able to handle the work load because she was determined, besides it gave her a chance to go shopping for more fabric. Enough about her now, it was time to turn the subject over to him before it became too personal. She smiled as he spoke, pouting when he talked about the media. "Makes sense." She answered him back, not one for the spotlight either. She wanted to see the happy faces of her customers wearing the outfit, she didn't want to have it on herself. They had swapped drinks and she started drinking down his, the more she drank the more she started to like it.
Maybe she just had to get used to the flavor for a bit to truly enjoy it. "Oh I see." She answered when he mentioned being a defense attorney. Once she finished the glass, she would set it against the counter. I should go before this progresses even further. She couldn't help but feel slightly nervous on the subject. She forced herself to push the uneasy feelings aside. "So what is a guy like you doing in a place like this?" She asked, curious on his answer, finding difficulty in trying to leave. "Business or pleasure?" She asked, correcting her question from before. Maybe he had planned to meet a client here, or a love interest. She thought to herself, knowing that she didn't fit the bill. I might be able to politely get my exit.
he chuckled softly."yet here you are? im not keeping you from your work am i?"he asked with a playful smile."though next time i see you here, i will remember we have similar tastes."he said talking about the drink she was now currently drinking."at least we will have that in common."
they continued to chat. eventually the questions were all directed at him. nothing he couldn't handle of course. talking was what he was good at. perhaps better in a courtroom. social events lead to unexpected surprises. he nodded at the appropriate times. he really didn't want to elaborate on his reasons. he didn't mind one positions over the other. he had started out as a prosecutor. he liked change.
he chuckled once more at her words."a guy like me. curious aren't we."he teased her playfully."pleasure."he told her with a wink."it's been quite a long day. came here for nothing more than a drink to unwind. chatting with a lovely lady as yourself is only a plus."he said with a smile. little did she know exactly how true his words were. he wasn't here just for one type of drink.
