Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

a small yawn escaped her lips as she made her way out of bed. she always took a personal day on this day. so many times she wish she didn't have to. not because she didn't want to go visit, but because she wished he was still here. she took a deep breath, nice and slow. she went through her normal routine, if anything a bit slower than usual.
she grabbed her purse and keys before exiting her apartment. the sun was out, but there was a bit of a chill in the air. she was glad she had decided to dress in layers. she stopped by the local flower shop and picked up a bouquet. she eventually ended up at her destination. she knew she wasn't welcome. that's why she picked a day that she knew or at least hoped they wouldn't be there. she didn't mind that they blamed her, she did the same. she stood there looking around. she would wait them out if they happened to be here. so far so good. she thought to herself as she started to walk towards his grave.
was it weird that she talked to him? maybe not to the ones that had lost someone. she brushed off some of the leaves and dirt that had fallen on the headstone. setting the flowers into an empty vase before sitting down for a talk.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Hector hasn't been to the cemetery before. No, he couldn't bring himself to go there, at least. But after hours of thinking, minutes, days, he's finally given up and had decided to go to Rose Grove Cemetery. It's the only place he hasn't explored yet -- maybe will never explore if he didn't have he guts to go there -- so maybe he should do that. To explore, at least.
[break][break]Black clothes had always been a sign of respect whenever going to a cemetery, so he went there and simply donned a black dress shirt with fitting black pants and shoes, in contrast to his usual white hair and pale skin. Hazel eyes scan the place as he walked out of the cab; it was quite lonely around here. Only a few countable people could be found walking around, staying quiet, and praying to the dead.
[break][break]He soon found rather unusual yet well-kept tombstones; grazing a finger through them, he could feel dust clinging to his finger and the smell of cement entering his nose. Hector smiled and bowed as a sign of respect, before walking around and moving on to the other graves.
[break][break]Hector was taken aback when he suddenly almost bumped into someone while walking. Almost tripping over himself, he smiled and scratched his head apologetically to a young woman sitting down in front of a tombstone. "S-Sorry," He began, still scratching his head. "I-I didn't see you there. Again, I'm sorry."
she was rather hard to see, depending on where you were coming from or if you weren't really paying attention. honestly though she didn't mind. he had simply tapped her shoes. thankfully he hadn't tripped or worse fallen. she'd never live it down. how embarrassing, causing such disturbance of all place. she smiled and shook her head. she debated getting up so she remained seated for the mean time."it's alright. i think i would of been okay. you're the one that always took a nose dive."she said with a small smile. she wasn't teasing him him in the slightest. just pointing out a possible outcome.
she noticed he wasn't holding anything. she wondered if he was here for a visit or if he was attending a funeral. she shouldn't assume, maybe someone else would bring flowers. not everyone that visited brought them. she wasn't sure what else to say."are you lost? you seem lost."she finally blurted out.
she wasn't facing him when she asked. she was fiddling around with the flowers and dusting off the head stone while she waited for his reply.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] The young woman doesn't seem to mind that he had almost tripped over her; Hector nods with a smile to the young woman. "Haha, true... I'm clumsy at times." He chuckles to himself, agreeing to her statement. Indeed, he almost tripped himself over to the ground. It could've killed him if they were to exaggerate this predicament.
[break][break]The young woman then asks him a question while turning to the grave, and he ponders about this question for a moment. He didn't want to tell her that he was just out here exploring the graveyard. The young man sighs and turns to the other graves surrounding them everywhere. "I'm... yes, I'm quite lost." He says in response to her question. "I just wanted to find someone's grave, that's all. I heard from others that people were mostly buried here, so... I tried searching for a name. Truth is, though, I've forgotten the name once I came here. Now here I am, trying to search for names that seemed to strike a cord."
[break][break]He doesn't know what else to say right now, so he simply watches her seemingly tending to the grave. The young man's eyes soften. He's never done that to his parent's graves before... if they ever had graves after they died. But it must be nostalgic to be doing that.
[break][break]A moment of silence passes by, until finally he couldn't take it anymore. "I... I'm afraid I haven't gotten your name yet." He states with a small smile. "Would it be alright to ask for your name?"
she giggled softly."it's alright. clumsiness happens to the best of us."she reassured him. there had been plenty of times she had tripped over her own feet. or even walking up the stairs, because she was simply walking too fast and missed a step. she was glad whenever she did trip there wouldn't be too many people around. she hated drawing attention to herself.
she finished tiding up while she listened to him. it seemed like her assumption about him being lost was correct. she turned to face him when he mentioned not remembering the person he was looking for."oh, that's terrible. i hope you find them."she told him with a smile before figuring it was time to get up."maybe i can help you in your search? are you looking for a relative? most families are together or close by each other."she told him as she dusted herself off and smiled once more."of course you can have my name. i'm danika, it's nice to meet you."she said as she stretched out her hand towards him.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Hector giggles as she points out that clumsiness always happens to most, and he couldn't help but agree to this statement. "Haha, very true. But it's still quite embarrassing, especially if people are watching." He adds to her statement with a chuckle. Yes, people are clumsy in their own ways, but when shown in public they would just humiliate themselves. Hector doesn't wish for the same to happen to him; he won't take that very well.
[break][break]The young woman offers to search for the tombstone that he was looking for, and he almost wanted to reprimand himself for telling her a lie. But half of it wasn't; he did want to check out if their names were around here, but that wasn't the sole purpose as to why he came here in the first place. It would be rude to refuse this offer, so he nods. "Thank you. Your help is appreciated." He smiles and bows, then chuckles sheepishly. "Even though it isn't really required, but... thank you once more."
[break][break]She introduces herself as Danika, and looking at that outstretched hand, he smiles and takes it, shaking it in the process. "...Meredith. Nice to meet you, Danika." Meredith was the name he was already accustomed to introducing himself to most strangers, after all. Except for a select few whom he accidentally introduced himself as Hector.
[break][break]Hector manages to sneak a glance without turning his head to the tombstone she had just tended to a while ago, before coughing intentionally. "Now... shall we start? We should probably begin to the right." He says while pointing to an evident path that goes to the right. Of course if she had any other ideas as to where to go, then sure, he'll follow her. She does know more about this place than he does, after all.
she smiled at him and nodded, agreeing with his statement. She hated unnecessary attention. So making a fool of herself was not something she wanted to do. She was pretty resilient and had learned to laugh at herself during certain situations. Not to say she didn't get embarrassed. Her cheeks would glow with a pink hue. It was rather hard to hide that tell tale sign."very true, but at least this time it was only me."she smiled once more.
Did it seem odd that she wanted to help? It wasn't that she wanted to cut her visit short. Maybe she was embarrassed? She shouldn't be, knowing that she wasnt the only one that talked to loved one that have passed. Was she afraid of being judge or perhaps the questions that could be brought up. She wasn't ready. Not that she thought he was the type to pry. He hadn't asked her what she had been doing. Then again it was pretty obvious. She had stood up and when he had thanked her for helping him she turned to look at his grave one last time."it's no problem at all my dear."she told him with a smile."oh, yes of course."danika said as she started walking. She really didn't have much to go on. She didn't want to be rude and pry too much."so I'll take you to the oldest part first."she said filling the silence.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] He chuckled lightly at her next statement, finding it somewhat of a relief now that she brought it up. True, it's always embarrassing to be stumbling down on the street, stepping on nothing in particular, with so many people watching. Most would be concerned and would ask if he was okay than laugh at him for his mistake; much like what the young green-haired woman had done to him after he almost stumbled to the ground because of not seeing her. He might be the only one laughing at himself at situations like this.
[break][break]He simply smiles and nods at her statement. "Very true. I'm relieved it had just been you who saw how much of a clumsy person I really am."
[break][break]They had introduced themselves, with Danika offering to help him find the gravestone he had been searching for. Even though there wasn't any name to be searched for, he didn't want to make sure if ever his parents or his grandparents happened to be written here, in a sense. So that became his new mission; see if their names are written here. All with the help of Danika.
[break][break]He had pointed her out to where they are supposed to start, and she agrees to this, telling him that she'd be taking him to the oldest place in the graveyard first. "That would be wonderful. Thank you." He says before following her. As they walked, he started to wonder what the other woman was doing; that one last look at the tombstone he had seen her sitting in front of must've contained someone important to her. But, of course, as a matter of privacy, he wouldn't press her on it.
[break][break]After she her last statement to her there was complete silence again. Hector simply looks around the tombstones, but he couldn't help but feel like he should talk to her while they walk. It would be quite boring to stay utterly silent while they walk around the cemetery, that is. And Hector doesn't like silence that much.
[break][break]So he sighs and turns to the green-haired girl, and uncertain look on his face as he ponders to himself if it was really necessary for him to ask this question or not. "So... how long have you been around here?"
she laughed softly."i promise i won't tell anyone how clumsy you can be."she said with a wink. she'd more than likely end up tripping over something herself eventually."i guess i should tell you some of the terrain, towards the older part of the cemetery is a bit uneven. so watch your step."
she wasn't sure what she should ask. so she walked in silence. she didn't want to be too nosy. she didn't mind the silence. sometimes it was what was needed. a moment, a quiet moment to collect your thoughts. he asked her how long she had been there. it had been quiet some time. she pondered the question as she tried to recall the day her father had told her they were moving, yet again."it's been a few years. i want to say i started high school and graduated here."she counted on her fingers."eight years...honestly it feels like yesterday."she chuckles softly.
"how about you? did you just move into town?"she assumed maybe he had family here. after all he was looking for some in the cemetery or at least that's what she figured. she didn't want to assume.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Danika winks at him, telling him once more that she wouldn't tell anyone else about how clumsy he is. This relieves him once more, a small chuckle finding itself out of his mouth again. But then, they finally move on, Danika stating that she would take him to the oldest part of the cemetery; probably also the hardest terrain to cross on according to Danika's words. He nods and follows her with a small smile. "Thank you. Anywhere is fine, I can take it."
[break][break]He gets a reply from the question he had asked her a while ago. Eight years, for Hector, seems quite long enough already. "Wow. Seems like you're a veteran around here, then." He chuckles after this, then turns to the sky with a small sigh. "But honestly, though... that's pretty long. You must have much experience around here." He couldn't help but feel like he had already said that, but he let it slip past him.
[break][break]She then asks the same question, and he sighs again. Thoughts of how he first got here start to linger once again. "...Three years. I moved in here when I was eighteen." He replied, laughing softly. "Honestly, time flies too fast. It only felt like weeks ago to me, too."
[break][break]Hector's thoughts then turn back to the cemetery, and he raises an eyebrow once he sees where they are now. "Is that... the oldest part of the cemetery?" He points to the graveyard ahead of them, surrounded by trees that seem to act as a gate around it. From far away one could already tell it was quite old, with cracked tiles seeming to be everywhere.
she smiled at him warmly and nodded."it's not a difficult walk, just uneven. i say from experience, i tripped over a hole once while i was exploring."she said with a small laugh. she ended up with a twisted ankle, but nothing major. she had thought she had been careful, but sometimes things were just hidden and you didn't notice them until after they had got you.
they were quiet for sometimes before they started to converse. he asked her how long she had been living in lorsette and she honestly had to think about it for a few seconds. now it felt like she had been living there her whole life. it wasn't rare for her and her father to move around so much. if anything thing they had been in a single place for less than a year. she kept waiting for the day that they would have to leave lorsette, but that day never came.
with all the events that had transpired a part of her wished they had left. though there was also another part that was glad they didn't. she was happy here and she would be again, or so she hoped."haha, believe me this place is so big it feels like i haven't seen everything yet."she smiled softly.
she nods when he tells her how long he has been here. it doesn't surprise her. lorsette was a big city. you pass by people all the time. before she has time to respond to his last comment she returns her attention at her surroundings and nods."it's cool huh?"she says with a smile.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] She tells him the walk to the cemetery won't be difficult, only uneven; one glance at the cracked tiles on the floor, and he finds himself agreeing to her words. "Very true, very true." He nods with a small chuckle. Another one escapes his lips as he listens to what Danika had gone through in this very cemetery, walking around. "Given the condition of the tiles we are stepping on, I can tell you're not lying," He stated, occasionally looking down and see if his feet were ever to accidentally make contact with cracked holes on the ground. He couldn't risk tripping over something the second time.
[break][break]The trip to the cemetery had gotten livelier, at least, with the two of them discussing things about they're experience in this very city, and how long they had been there. Hector could find the city very beautiful, at least; he'd be lying if he said that once he'll travel again, he wouldn't want to go home and settle in. Lorsette has become his go-to place of all places, too be honest; even given the dangers all around them, he was enjoying his stay. No way was he going to leave so soon.
[break][break]"Very, very big, I agree. Makes it all the more better to travel around, too be honest, with all the different places you can go to." He nods and smiles at her next statement. She might not agree to an extent, but as a traveller he could tell that Lorsette has so much more to it than meets the eye, much more worth wandering around than going to different countries. It wasn't as big as the world, but enough to satisfy his needs for travel.
[break][break]A few more conversations before Hector points out the old cemetery at the distance, Danika complimenting it. Hector blinks a few times before turning to her with a nod and a grin. "Indeed. And quite mysterious, I should say." He grazes a finger through his chin as he starts to walk over to the cemetery. "Shall we, then?"
she laughs softly at his words looking down at the cracked tiles. some were even missing parts. though she was used to this. though there was still the possibility she could miss a step. it's been known to happen to her once in awhile. she tucked lose strands of her hair behind her ear. it seemed like the wind was picking up just a bit. she rarely checked the weather. she didn't need to when she worked inside all day. though it was good to be prepared. she had managed to at least dress warmly.
"i also agree."she said with a laugh."never a dull moment when you're finding new places or things to do."she told him. though honestly she rarely went out and did new things. well, perhaps this was something new. she wasn't always giving tours around the cemetery grounds. it wasn't weird right? she tried to convince herself it wasn't. she was just being helpful. he wouldn't of agreed to take her help if it was right?
his next words brought her back and out of her thoughts. which were a little late to be thinking about now. timing wasn't everything right?"i'll follow your lead."she said as she slowly started walking towards a headstone.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] The wind seems to be picking up, growing stronger and stronger by the minute, and this grabs his attention. The young man stops for a brief moment and turns, feeling the wind grasping loose strands of his hair; he doesn't bother to straighten them back on, it would end up getting messy anyway. Hector smiles and turns to her with a seemingly worried look. "Careful with your dress, the wind's getting quite stronger. It might blow you away." He warns her with a soft giggle. Well, it was not to say her dress was short, but something may happen and they might not know about it.
[break][break]He could agree to her next statement about going new places; the young man nods with a satisfied sigh. "Yes, indeed. You get busier when you are out of home." Sometimes he would also like to wonder if Danika loved exploring herself. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, but it was likely the former. She wouldn't be guiding him around the cemetery if the case was otherwise, would she? But then again, she knew the place longer than he did. He's always wrong about some things.
[break][break]The duo finally arrive at the cemetery, and at first he seems nervous to take another step. Were they really here? Or should he just tell Danika the truth? He turns to her with a need of reassurance, and he receives it once Danika tells him she'd follow his lead. The young man closes his eyes, sighs inwardly and nods, before proceeding.
[break][break]It was quiet, as was expected of a cemetery, especially the oldest part. Sometimes Hector could feel like someone was watching the two of them, but it was all simple premonition and had nothing to do with what they are doing right now. The longer he looked at the names, the more nostalgic he felt; he did wish their names would turn up around. He trusted they could be buried anywhere around these parts.
[break][break]A few minutes had passed, and there was still no sign of their names; he turns to Danika and shook his head. "Not here," He stated quietly, looking over to the right side of the cemetery. "We've searched only one part of it, though. Maybe they could be there..." He adds, pointing to where he was looking.
she laughed softly."i wasn't expecting it to be this windy. had i known i would of worn pants."she told him. it was a little late now, though she would be careful. the last thing she needed was to flash him. she'd die of embarrassment."i'll be sure to grab a hold of something before that happens."she laughs once more.
she nods at his statement. though she liked to stay busy. it gave her certainly less time to think. well, less time with certain thoughts. mostly pertaining to the one she had lost. even then she'd get those moments of sadness and guilt. being here sometimes made her feel worse. though it really depended on how she was feeling in the first place. today she had been fine. glad she was able to visit and clean up a bit.
she waited till he moved. she wasn't going to push him towards any of the headstones. she wanted to make sure he took his time. if anything she was right beside him. she would often stop to dust off any dirt covering a name. other times the headstone was so old the name had disappeared. she turns to him and nods after mentioning he didn't not find whoever he was looking for."that's right. shall we continue on to the next? we passed them on our way here. now we must go back."she told him with a smile.
she really hoped he'd find who he was looking for."well, at least you managed to trek this uneven terrain."she said with encouragement.
