Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Taking note of the sun's light slowly beginning to filter in through the morning clouds, Grayson sneered, thoroughly annoyed with the timing. While for most, the light of the sun would be no big deal, and certainly improve visibility, for Grayson, it was quite literally blinding. Achromatopsia was a bitch like that.
Still, he wasn't about to go trying to back out of this fight. He had the first chance in a long time to get in some proper exercise in a casual manner, he wasn't letting the morning light get in the way of that. He'd just have to hurry and find a location, before it got too bad. And if he was too late, he had his sunglasses in his coat pocket. Though, those would be rather difficult to keep on in the middle of a fight... Hell, he'd just fight blind, if he had too. He still had his other sense enhanced, he'd just make like a bat and listen.
"Might as well make it interesting, Meredith. Any bets you want to throw on the table?" He mused, hiding his anxiety towards the sun. He hadn't yet thought of anything to bet, himself. "Ah... You seem like you know this town pretty well. If I win, how about you tell me all about it? You must see quite a bit in those walks of yours." He suggested. It was an innocent enough bet. There was no need to get money and humiliating acts involved in something like this.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] He manages to catch a glimpse of the other man just beside him, and, seeing him sneer, he giggles teasingly and grins. "What? Scared of the sun or something?" Surprisingly enough, Hector doesn't ask him this in a teasing tone, rather asking him this out of a sudden concern. The young man must be quite sensitive to the sun, but so far he doesn't show any other symptoms of him being sensitive to it aside from the sneering.
[break][break]They soon switch to another discussion, and Hector is quite relieved for that; he's still fine. The dark-haired man seems to want to make this fight interesting, so he asks if there are any bets that he could place. Hector hums and looks up at the sky, blinking. "Huh... I don't have anything yet..." He mumbles to himself, rather irritably. Great, now he's losing to bet suggestions, and it may be the first part of that game. Then he hears the other suggest that if he wins, Hector would have to tell him all about the town. Too be honest, that was a kind-enough bet, but Hector will take it.
[break][break]"Sure thing. But I might only tell you just a few things I know, though... I'm new to this town, myself." But he did have a point, he knew a lot because of the walks he usually does early in the morning, including this one. He then turns to the other male and smiles. "And if I win, you tell me what you were doing around town just a few hours ago. And don't even tell me you were just walking around." He dares with a small smirk.
[break][break]This game has gotten really interesting, Hector could tell. Truth be told, he hadn't experienced a quite difficult challenge to have innocent bets, but it was the fun part in the game.
"No, I'm not scared of the sun." Grayson huffed in response, shaking his head, but offering no other explanation. If he explained how the light would be affecting his vision, the younger shifter would probably try to call off the challenge. Or even worse, hold back. He couldn't let himself be handicapped, even if that was exactly what it was. Even with the pain that came along with the blinding white, he'd have to work through it. It was just his fault for not considering the time of day before issuing the challenge.
As Hector agreed to his more innocent bet, Grayson chuckled, leading the boy into the park he'd noticed. There was plenty of open space, and not a person in sight, what with the early time of day. "Oh? Are you curious?" He mused as a counter bet was added into the pool, smirking. "Alright, that settles it, then." He agreed, shrugging a bit. He wouldn't have to be overly specific about his activities, so it was fine.
It was refreshing, really. It was in his nature to ache for battle, but there were usually far more dire consequences at stake. He hadn't fought for entertainment in ages. It helped that his opponent clearly wasn't taking it too seriously, either. Leading the boy out into the middle of the field, he glanced to the sky to figure out how much time he had, before looking back to Hector with a grin. "Alright, then, I'm shifting." He spoke, before immediately beginning the process, expecting the other to follow queue.
He felt he should have warned the other that he wasn't truly a shifter. That he was an Undead with a sickly air that sifted from his semi-rotting wolf form, but at this point, Hector would just have to see for himself.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] The raven-haired man denies being scared of the sun, and while Hector is quick to believe in this claim (he finds it ridiculous that people would be afraid of the very thing that brings color to the world), he still couldn't help but think that maybe this young man was just lying, maybe to make himself look good... but Hector doesn't question him any further, instead looking at the road towards the park where they would do the deed.
[break][break]He grins once the other male asks if he was curious as to why he was walking around the suburbs late at night. He chuckles and sighs, cocking his head to the side. "Hmm... yes, you could say that." He turns to the other with a smirk. "It's inevitable for me to be curious about the whereabouts of others I happen to bump into."
[break][break]They finally arrive at the park after a few moments, the sun's brightness starting to paint the whole city of Lorsette, though not entirely. "Sure. Go ahead." He nods once the other male declares that he would be shifting, and seeing this as the moment that he should be shifting himself, he closes his eyes and feels himself slowly growing larger and larger by the minute.
[break][break]And while he was curious about how the other man's true form would look like, he just couldn't stop right here.
[break][break]Within moments, he turns into a hideous beast; the tiger's eyes wind open, and as he took in the surroundings of the world through his tiger, he looks over to the other male to see if he had finished shifting.
[break][break]He would grin once he sees the other's alternative form. Now that's one, deadly dog, He could only muse to himself as he observes from where he stood.
Seeing the large form of the white tiger for himself, Grayson would be smirking if he were able in his own shifted form. He wore the appearance of a large black wolf, seemingly decayed, with random bits of fur and flesh missing and bone on display. It was something that would no doubt give children nightmares, but that was the way he liked it. Even if it was a form to actively avoided using for various reasons. Though his Plague ability was the biggest issue, the effects of Famine would also be amplified. He wasn't sure he wanted to fight a excessively hungry tiger, but this was his idea.
He wondered if Meredith had realized, at that point. That he wasn't actually a Shifter, at least. Nor a Lycanthrope. Hell, at this point, he was basically just a Pet Cemetery trope gone wrong. He was okay with that, though-- it served his purposes. 'Well, look at that, not so small now, are you?' He teased, knowing the Shifter would be able to understand him even as a wolf.
'I wouldn't have guessed this much from looking at you.' He continued to taunt as he approached the larger beast.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] He could see the other's form clearly now. A large black wolf, with some of his fur and skin flayed and the meat underneath it decaying into a dark green grub. He could feel a terrifying aura suddenly emerge from the black wolf, which would be understandable if they were to say the other male doesn't like transforming frequently. He smells of death and a rotting corpse; something really unusual for a shifter's form to take.
[break][break]...Not to say Hector still thinks he is a shifter, anyway. It's obvious he's something else.
[break][break]He suspects that this guy doesn't like shifting into his other form completely; it's a dangerous thing to be around. With a stature that almost seemed to be decaying, plus the rotting meat and muscles from inside that was obviously about to fall apart, and add in the bones that allowed itself to show itself in public view, it would certainly enter your nightmares whenever you think about it. But Hector is the same. Who would want to see a white tiger running around the streets while everyone is going about their day?
[break][break]Even in their animal form, they could still speak telepathically; Hector hears him tease about his new appearance, making him scoff. Not so small indeed. How about you? You seem like you've grown much bigger than before. He teases back; he would grin if he could, but unfortunately his tiger wouldn't allow it.
[break][break]As the black wolf starts approaching him, he raises an eyebrow, his tiger wagging his tail slowly like an alarmed cat. ...You're not a shifter. He states, seemingly wanting confirmation to see if he was right about this speculation. It's in the tip of my tongue... but you're form is not alive. Your form seems to have come from the undead realm. Hector then starts thinking to himself, trying to remember which name it was that the other male's form is.
'The difference is, I was already pretty big.' Grayson mused in return. He could tell that the other was taking in his new appearance, but he didn't seem particularly startled, nor weary. Aside from the slight wagging of his tail. It was interesting, considering the last people to see him in this form had recoiled in fear and disgust. That was the natural response towards a zombie mutt, right?
'You're on the right track. I'm a Lich Beast. I had some unfinished business when I died, so I couldn't leave it be.' He explained, the base of his missing ear twitching as he reminded himself of that night. 'Not the prettiest form, is it?' He joked, shaking his head. 'Meanwhile, you're over there looking majestic as shit.'
'So. Knowing I'm like this, you still want to fight?' He asked, staring back at Meredith, his two-toned eyes unblinking. The sun was getting higher, still... His instincts from previous times he'd lingered outside too long urged him to get to a darker place, but he was stubborn.
'Like this, you don't know what I'm capable of, right?' He taunted, moving to circle slowly around the large cat. Naturally, he still wanted to fight. It was in his nature as a Lich Beast.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] Hector laughs heartily at the other male's statement. Haha. That I find very true. And it was. The other male was massively huge in his other form (although not as large as him), larger than his human body. He looked much healthier in his human form, though. Here, as the huge, black, and decaying wolf, he looked like the sort that would come from nightmares. That has already been pretty much thought of a while ago. Admittedly, it would have made Hector shiver if he hadn't known who this man was at all.
[break][break]The other male then starts to explain what he truly is, the tiger tilting his head. A low grumble escapes his throat, supposedly a hum of understanding if he were still in human form. A lich beast... now that explains it. His explanation only reveals much more about what he is. They are creatures born from vengeance, from hatred... that much Hector knew. However, he couldn't help but wonder what made him into a lich beast; was he a shifter like him before? So far as he knew, non-shifters simply turn into liches or spirits. Dead shifters turn into the animal in front of him now.
[break][break]...Were you a shifter before? He finally manages to ask, his curiosity not able to leave him. Or something else... a lycanthrope, maybe? Or familiar? Because so far as I know lich beasts were only supposed to be creatures who can shift into animals.
[break][break]For one, he didn't really like lich beasts. They were fearsome, and can strike fear into the hearts of many. Hector didn't want to be like them one day once he dies; simply observing the other's form would probably make him puke if he hadn't known the guy sooner. Lich beasts were living nightmares. That much he knew of.
[break][break]He asks him if he would still want to fight, cutting him off his thoughts. Of course, he still wants to. Not that he's scared of him anymore, now that they are here; he's promised a fight, and he will fight. No exceptions. Of course I still want to. He grins at the lich beast circling around him like a true hunting wolf. The tiger briefly perks his head up to the sky, watching as dark slowly turns to a faint hue of yellow and blue. First, though... we should move to a more shadowy area. Someone might see us around here.
[break][break]The park was large, so he has quite of a point. Early risers may have seen them from around here. And so he begins to walk up to the trees, which was covered densely by leaves and shadows that would be quite impossible for passers-by to see.
The deathly wolf seemed to smirk at the question, though not immediately answering as his circling came to a pause. It was true that most other Lich Beast cases he knew of resulted from dead Shifters. 'No... Nothing so simple. I was a Lycanthrope. Killed during a new moon.' He finally answered, keeping the details to the point. Though, murdered was probably the more accurate word to use... 'Naturally, I couldn't just leave it at that, so I ended up like this.' He continued, shaking his head. Smirking again, he looked back to the tiger. 'Win, and maybe I'll tell you more.' He mused.
At the suggestion of moving to a more shadowed area, Grayson's relief was clear, though he'd tried to hide it. It was an absolute to avoid showing any of his weaknesses to others, but he was already slipping up around this boy. He couldn't understand why, even with the casual tone between them. Once they were in the shadows, he took a moment to figure out the best angles to avoid the sun altogether, before sizing up his opponent. It was true that in terms of size and brute strength, it certainly looked as though Meredith would have the advantage, but how much battle experience the boy had was questionable. Also, a creature that size lacked maneuverability. For the time being, that was all he had to go on.
And with that, he launched himself towards the beast, giving no further warning for his first attack. Though his instincts naturally urged him to go for vitals, he put his all into avoiding them, as he instead aimed to get on top of the tiger to go for its neck. Again, it wasn't often that he had friendly battles.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] So he was a lycanthrope... that much Hector didn't expect, but quite understandable in its state. Lycanthropes can shift to a wolf, though, something made evident by his transformation as an undead wolf. Hector listens as he repeats what he had said earlier, about having unfinished business, and he simply nods at this. It's understandable to feel that way. In fact, he'd probably be feeling the same way if someone killed him.
[break][break]He nods instinctively to the new deal the former lycanthrope had given him. Of course he wanted to know more. You're on. He chuckles after this, before turning tail to the shadowy place he had pointed out to him a while ago. Considering the range of the sun in the sky, and the possible chance of passersby seeing two ferocious beasts fighting in the park, Hector knew they had to keep themselves safe and not be exposed to the public eyes.
[break][break]A brief grumble escapes his throat as he looks around the dark area, eyeing the small open holes in case someone would peek. Alright, we're all set-- He was cut off when the deathly wolf suddenly attacks him; a growl escapes his mouth and he backs away slightly, waving his paws towards the wolf. He wouldn't be near enough to hit him in the face and leave claw marks, but it would certainly be a warning not to set him off quickly.
[break][break]The tiger slides through the ground standing, his claws gripping on the ground leaving claw marks. Haha, not bad! He taunts the other, finally dashing towards the other and preparing his claws to swipe at him.
Bringing a front leg up to protect his head as he saw the larger paw coming his way, Grayson allowed himself to be swiped away from the tiger. Managing to catch himself on the ground without toppling over, he stood up straight, smirking as he held his ground to decide on his next move. He didn't have much time, before Meredith took the initiative, dashing towards himself. Honestly, there was little he'd experienced that was quite as intimidating as a huge tiger running directly at you. It was entralling, being forced to act on instinct as he realized just how little time he had to react. It was different from fighting a person. Sure, the other was a person, but there was definitely that bestial instinct present that was sure to effect his attack style. Something he'd only seen in other Lycanthrope, previously.
As the large furball grew dangerously close, Grayson had to take his chance, swiftly ducking off to the direction of the raised claws in an attempt to move underneath and out of the attack range. He just barely made it, feeling the weight of the paw against his back as he passed. He kept moving then, trying to circle around to get behind the tiger. His own larger than average size was kind of a hinder in a battle like this. It just meant he was a larger target.
Unsure if he would be able to get behind the tiger properly, Grayson decided to take an alternative approach, instead darting at Meredith's hind leg in a full body tackle, wanting to at least throw off the oversized cat's balance. If he were successful, he'd have a better chance of getting a counter-attack in.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] As expected, his claws don't hit the quicker animal directly; the wolf dives from beneath the paws ready to mark his face, and almost as immediately as the other gets away, he withdraws the paw and stomps it hard on the ground, baring his claws and snarling at the canine who starts to circle him around.
[break][break]The tiger's tail rags in alarm as he carefully observes the other. Again, there is so limited time to act right now and he had to think carefully; the open ribs would've been a better spot to dash up to, but then again this was a friendly fight and no one was injuring anyone... at least to Hector's knowledge. A growl escapes the throat of the ferocious beast as it glares at the canine, all the while the real Hector is smirking from beneath. Go for the neck, then. It would be a better alternative--
[break][break]Almost so suddenly, and Hector did not expect it, the deathly wolf hits his lower leg in full-form, and Hector is almost thrown out of balance; the tiger stumbles a few feet away, but immediately regains his balance as he forces his undamaged feet to the ground.
[break][break]And as quickly as lightning, the tiger, with a growl, dashes over to the wolf, mouth opened and prepared to strike, paws with claws bared throwing themselves around the wolf's back. If that would keep him off guard, then he'd strike for the neck. But Hector is also in the middle of struggling, as he knows that the other is more quick than he is. But he thinks he's kept him locked for sure.
Though he'd hit his target full on, Grayson realized too late that such an attack was pointless against a cat. He'd had no time to counter-attack before the tiger was back on steady feet. Not only that, but now he was charging directly at him. '--shit.' Cursing to himself as he relized his predicament, he attempted to dodge the pounce, but his own reaction had been to slow. Having failed to get away, he grunted and snarled as he felt the full weight on the tiger landing atop of him, effectively pinning his lighter body to the ground. Though he squirmed and clawed at the ground in attempts to loosen himself, he knew he was got.
Still, it was never said that they couldn't use other abilities... If he were to call forth a horde of spiders from the grass with his Pestilence, to cover his body, he was sure the over-sized feline would let him go. Though he smirked at the idea, he decided against it as his body ultimately relaxed beneath the weight to signal his defeat. He didn't want the other man to be scared of him. Meredith hadn't seemed too bothered when he saw his disfigured wolf self, but an army of spiders would be enough to shake anyone.
'Alright, Kitty, you win this round.' He mused aloud, still unable to drag himself free from the tiger's weight. It was kind of embarrassing. But it meant that he knew what to guard against if they were to fight again. If it were a real fight, he would have pulled out all the stops to maintain an advantage, but for a friendly battle, this seemed about right.

[attr="class","jawntattxtdiv"] For sure, he's pinned the other down to the ground; he could feel the wolf struggling to get out of his larger self's grasp. Which amuses Hector, too be honest, to the point where he would be chuckling like hell right now. Instead, what came out of the tiger's throat while he watches the wolf from above him is a small, low purr, likely pleased to stop the wolf for more than just a little while.
[break][break]This only makes matters better when the other announces that he has won this round. The tiger's tail wags from his back, but his eyes slightly widen as he doesn't expect the other to admit defeat so easily. Pff... seriously? He chuckles heartily, raising an eyebrow as he lifts himself slightly up from the wolf. I never thought you'd give up this easily. He adds, amusement clearly in his voice. But then again... tigers can be really heavy, so I guess I can get why. Hector felt quite embarrassed saying that out loud; he didn't like involving his tiger's weight in a conversation like this. Especially saying it to this guy.
[break][break]The tiger finally lets the wolf go, lifting his paws from his back and walking a short distance away from him. We should rest a little before we start the second round. He asked, staring from the little holes made by the leaves. The sun's finally up in the sky and the whole world's turned bright, people finally out and about going about their day. Sure enough, he could also hear voices coming from the park where they had been earlier. Also, people are now perfectly awake, some in the park, so we should probably be careful.
[break][break]Unless you wanna go somewhere else where it's safer to battle like this.
'Calling yourself fat, now?' Grayson teased as he was released, standing back up straight and shaking off. "'his body is basically rotting flesh, you know. If I struggled any more than I did, I might've gotten ripped right in half, you know.' He pointed out, though sounding amused by the possibility. 'There were other ways I could have escaped... But I can't go around showing my trump card so easily, now can I?' He claimed, holding his head high, as if he hadn't been defeated at all.
At the suggestion to take a breather, Grayson nodded, his amused expression falling as he glanced up to the now less effective canopy. 'For alternate reasons, I'm inclined to agree.' He grunted, then shifting back into his human form. Fishing a pair of sunglasses from his pocket, he slipped them on. "If I'm going to be honest, the sun and I don't get along." He explained, shaking his heads. "If that light gets into my eyes, I'm not going to be able to see, let alone fight." Though he hated to admit it, he felt that Meredith wasn't the type to use that information against him. He usually had pretty good instincts.
"That said, somewhere dark would be best. Perhaps an overpass?" He suggested, looking back over towards the tiger. The beast was certainly massive. There was no way he'd have been able to get out from under his weight without any dirty tricks.
