Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Tea. One of the favorite things she could always die for.
[break][break]And of course, since it was Kaylie, a huge stack of books was also set on the table. Kaylie was reading one right now.
[break][break]It had been quite the busy morning today. Different students and people have come and go even faster than before because of the summer season. Of course, this increased their customer count in the library, and while Kaylie was fine with that, it was also quite tiring for her and Zoraya. Both of them totally deserved a good break from taking care of those customers in the library just hours ago; especially with those careless readers who just leave their books everywhere.
[break][break]Zoraya and her had their asses filled with taking care of the library for already twelve hours and a half already, but the day ended just fine. She decided to stop by Crescent Moon Cafe once again and take a break there with her favorite tea and drinks. Of course she brought a few books with her, all stacked up on the table she was sitting right now.
[break][break]As her eyes grazed over a new line of the book she was reading, she couldn't help but laugh. There was some slight comedy in this book although it was of the horror genre. Then, with a sip of a cup of tea she had ordered, she resumed reading the book.
[break][break]This is going to be interesting.
[break][break]Nothing was better than tea and a few books by her side to help her relax.
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]Here are the bookworms! Decided to put the thread here :3
Tristan found himself headed towards the Crescent moon cafe, with a laptop bag in his hand. He slowly reached out to open the door to the cafe and walked inside. The line was somewhat long, giving him plenty of time to look over the menu before it was his turn to decide on what he wanted to order for himself. The pastries looked yummy, so he decided on getting himself two cinnamon rolls with a cup of coffee. He got his cinnamon rolls and cup of coffee and turned in search of an available table to sit at. Though there were plenty to pick from, he couldn't help but stare at the table full of books with a girl drinking some tea. Pastries, tea, and books. Nothing could have been more sweet. He thought to himself, slowly making his way towards the table, he stopped just in front of her, glancing over at the different books that she had laying on top of each other.
"Excuse me, those are a very interesting choice for your set of books." He started, clearly interested in them too. It is a good thing I didn't buy any books at the bookstore, Nathan wouldn't have any room left in his bedroom if I had.... He thought to himself, chuckling from the thought. "What are you reading?" He asked, not familiar with any of her choices in the stack of books. It was a great way to start up a conversation, maybe if any of them were any good, he would write notes to find that book later on to read it himself. I should really stop bothering her and find another spot to sit. He thought to himself, glancing around the room to try and find an empty spot. To his surprise, the tables that had once been available had all been taken. He looked back towards the girl, embarrassed to be asking. "Would it be alright if I sat here?"
The white-haired girl flipped another page from the mystery she was reading. Ah, the thrillers of the book were making her shiver! Kaylie was too divested in reading the book that she didn't even hear the noise all around her, much less a voice talking to her right now.
[break][break]She could tell that someone else was there, though. Turning away from the book, she looked over at the young man in front of her, who complimented about the books she has. Kaylie smiled back at him and nodded. "Why thank you." she simply stated, patting the stack just as if they were an old friend of hers. "They keep me from getting lonely and keep my mind from thinking about the cruelty of this world."
[break][break]Then he asked what she was reading, making her turn to him with a smirk. "It's a mystery thriller. Something that can give you the chills all the time while you read." She replied, snapping two fingers before looking back to the book again. "It just proves that the world can be all too cruel at times."
[break][break]A short pause between them, and she could hear the young man asking once again if he could sit with her. She chuckled and nodded at him with a grin. "Sure, why not?" She pointed toward the books while still smiling at him. "You can take one of the books if you like."
Tristan couldn't help but smile when she took his compliment, patting the stack of books. He could relate, it was nice being distracted by a good boy or two. With his history between his family and himself, he couldn't bring himself to argue with her but at the same time, things had gotten better for him after her got in a relationship with his long time friend Nathan. He waited for her to answer his question about the book that she was reading, still curious in the answer. "Oh I see." He nodded his head in agreement. At times yes, but not all the time. He thought to himself. He was happy to hear that she had agreed to allow him to sit at the table with her. When she pointed to the stack of books he couldn't help but grin slightly.
"I would but I fear you might not get it back." He answered, politely refusing. When it came to books, he was guilty of forcing himself to finish until the very end, which made things difficult when it was time to sleep, among other things. "I am committed to finishing when I start a book and I know I don't have time to finish today." He corrected himself, taking a sat across from her, he placed his coffee on the table and his bag of cinnamon rolls. He reached into the bag to take one out, slowly munching on it to satisfy his hunger.
Kaylie smiled at the young blonde man as he took a seat. It didn't really occur to her that she would be sitting with someone in the cafe right now, but that didn't matter. All that's important right now is that they both have a good time and just... enjoy reading books.
[break][break]She turned to her book again and nodded at him, eyes immersed in the new words she was now taking in. This is probably the best part. Then she heard him tell her that he might not return a book if he were to borrow one. Kaylie chuckled and raised an eyebrow at the young man, lowering the book slowly so she could look him in the eye. "Oh, don't worry about a thing. These books came from the library where I work from." She told the young man, a grin forming on her face. "I'm the assistant librarian. So if you would ever borrow a book and would think that you can't return it on time, then you can just head over to the library and find me or the head librarian."
[break][break]Kaylie noticed the pastries that the young man is eating in front of her, then looked at her own cup of tea. Almost going to be done after about three more sips. Setting the book down on the table, she raised and waved a hand to a nearby waiter and ordered another cup of tea and some coconut bread. "Four coconut bread, please. Thank you."
[break][break]After that was done, she turned to the young man with a raised eyebrow, picking the book up with her hands once again. "By the way, I still haven't gotten her name yet." She said silently with a small smile, quickly turning to the pages of the book to continue reading.
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]Ep! New post! And late one at that, sorry
Tristan nodded his head in understanding but it didn't change the fact that he might not find time to return the books. "Well at the very least, I'd check it out in my own name." He chuckled, refusing to take a book out of the pile, already having an idea of the titles so that he could hopefully find those books in the near future or find her so that she could point him in the direction of where those books were shelved. "But if I find free time, I'll likely stop by." He answered, figuring right now was a bad time to be collecting books because they'd be stored in Nathan's room. He enjoyed eating his cinnamon rolls, pausing to sip at his coffee. He noticed her order another cup of tea and four coconut bread. "Oh I'm sorry. I'm Tristan." He gave her an apologetic smile before finishing off his first cinnamon roll, slowly starting to eat his second one. He wasn't sure if he should remain silent while sitting here or if he should try and start up another conversation. "Has the library been busy lately?" No harm in asking.
The young woman simply grinned and nodded at his next statements. New visitors are always welcome in the library, he should know. "I'll expect your arrival some time, then." Sometimes she would often just wonder why he just wouldn't pick one of the books on the table, but save it for later. Perhaps he wasn't in the mood to reading books today.
[break][break]Finally the tea and coconut she had ordered had finally arrived. She smiled and nodded as thanks to the waiter, depositing the other empty tea cup and plate on the waiter's tray. After the waiter had left, she glanced at the young man for a split second before turning back to her book.
[break][break]Then the young man apologized and introduced himself as Tristan. Kaylie looked up from her book and smirked with a raised eyebrow. Tristan was quite a nice name, but yet one of the most common. However, she made no comment about this and shrugged with a smirk. "Tristan it is, then. My name is Kaylie." She said, extending her hand for him to shake. "Nice to meet you."
[break][break]She would then withdraw her hand after they had shaken or if he refused to take it, turning back to her book. Tristan then asked if the library has been busy today. "Oh, it definitely was," She replied, not looking away from her book and turning another page. "So many people had come by today. Me and my friend Zoraya kept busy putting the books away to their respective shelves." With a huff, she folded the top of the page before shutting the book with a loud snap. "Some people just don't know how to put stuff back to where they belong."
Tristan nodded his head in agreement but wouldn't comment on the matter. The reason he hadn't bothered taking a book is because he would rather have it be on his own head instead of hers, since one checked out books from the library to keep track of who had them and he wasn't about to give his address out when he had already done so when he got his library card in the first place. After giving her his name, she had given hers in return. "It's nice to meet you too." He would wipe his hand with a napkin before shaking her hand, then he would return to finishing his cinnamon roll. He asked her a question and when she answered it, he took a sip from his coffee cup. When she closed the book in a huff, he couldn't help but stare at her. "Yeah... if only they would learn to not take advantage...." He answered, taking another sip of his coffee to use as an excuse to go silent again. Though one really shouldn't complain, they had gone into that profession knowing that people tend to be lazy...... and putting books away would be the least of ones problems. He though to himself, still drinking the coffee.
Something in the young man's gaze was telling her that he was trying to say she and her friend deserved to put books in the shelves all day long. Well, she did realize that sooner after she had said her complaint: It was their job as librarians to be putting away such stuff. So no use to complain; they were willing to take up these jobs, though.
[break][break]Kaylie sighed and put the books on the stack, before taking one of the coconut bread she had ordered and munching on it. Just... delicious. I'll be ordering some for Zory as well. She mused to herself, tastebuds filled with bliss as she kept on eating the bread. There's a good reason why she loved this type of bread; flavorful yet simple. Kaylie then looked over at his cinnamon rolls and smiled at the blonde man. "Tell me, is cinnamon rolls your favorite bread or pastry?"
[break][break]Then she laughed and waved a hand in front of her. "Nah, don't mind me. Maybe I'm just too bored." She said, then looked away from him, facing the window. "But sometimes I just like to wonder."
Tristan shrugged his shoulders to her question, "I don't know if I'd call it a favorite.... I have other pastries I enjoy eating too, I just so happened to choose cinnamon rolls this time around." It seemed like his answer had come too late because she was hinting that she didn't need to know after all. It would be polite to let me finish instead of changing your mind on the subject. I didn't take that long. He sighed, not making a comment when she had started looking outside. He had taken another sip from his coffee cup, finishing it he slowly rose from the table. "It was a pleasure speaking with you, Kaylie. Hopefully your day becomes much more eventful." He wished her the best, hopefully the rest of the people going into the library would clean up after themselves today. He didn't want to go, spending time here was rather fun while it had lasted but he had noticed the time and he would have to head to work soon so that he wouldn't run the risk of being late.
Kaylie could only nod back at the answer the young man had given her, but after that she had said nothing more. Looking out the window, she could see the blue sky from a while ago slowly dissolve into a yellow landscape. People were walking around the streets, either in pairs or alone; it's either they're going home after a long day of work, or simply going to wherever place they want to go.
[break][break]Come to think of it, she had to go now.
[break][break]Noticing Tristan standing up from his seat, she perked her head up to him and nodded. "Ah, yes, thank you. It was a pleasure meeting you, myself." Then stood up from her seat with a smile. "I'm actually about to get out of the cafe, myself." She said, fishing for her purse inside her pockets. "Have you already paid for your treats?"
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]One more post each and then exit?
Tristan smiled, "Yes I have." He answered, glancing towards the door about ready to leave. He found himself stopping when he heard shouting from down the street, the sounds of a Terror was approaching. He set his back back down on the table, pulling out his laptop he started typing into it so that he could view the city cameras. He then pulled out his radio to contact the TRS, giving them the location. "Second thought, I'm going to stay in here." He wasn't a fan of Terrors, he wasn't a fighter, just a newbie scout. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the people that were lurking outside, trying to escape from the oncoming Terror. I sure hope Nathan is okay out there.... He thought to himself, reaching into his pocket to pull out his phone he debated on sending a text out to his boy friend. He didn't against it, figuring he could always hack into the cameras to see how well his boy friend was currently doing. "I sure hope you don't plan on going out in that..." He commented, mostly in a whisper, though it was possible Kaylie had heard him if she was still in earshot.
Well, she supposed that was it. The young woman smiled back at Tristan and bowed her head politely. "Again, it was nice meeting you. Have a good day." She said quietly, finally making it to the door before he could step foot outside.
[break][break]She stopped in her tracks when screams from the streets were heard from outside the coffee shop, her eyes wide after hearing the sound. Kaylie blinked a couple of times before turning to Tristan, who stated that he would actually be staying here instead of leaving. "Haha, you're right, I'm staying here myself. Seems like trouble's rising from out there." She told him, sitting on another chair opposite to the previous table they sat on.
[break][break]The people in the cafe, after hearing the screams, stood up from their seats and rushed over to the windows of the cafe to check on what was happening. Kaylie was curious herself, following some of them towards the window. Luckily she was situated on an open space on the window, looking out to see a people in the streets running about with panicked looks on their faces.
[break][break]She smiled to herself and backed away a bit. "These poor people... they don't have to see all this trouble and horror." Picking a book from the stack she had brought earlier -- which was actually a tome -- she closed her eyes and opened her hand. A dark force suddenly circulates from around the palm of her hand, and with a small smile she could feel the surroundings around them change. By now the people should be seeing something more peaceful right now -- hence the whispering and questioning around her whether or not what they just saw from outside the window was just a hallucination -- except Tristan and herself, because considering the laptop and what seemed like his job, he could be a person related to the commotion right now.
[break][break]"Close your eyes."
[attr="class","boxo-notes"]On second thought, this isn't an exit yet XD Initiate illusions!
Tristan was too distracted by the noise outside to focus on Kaylie using magic. After a few minutes he could hear the whispers and sighed, it was for the best if they were seeing something else instead of the people being chased by Terrors... He had radioed in, but there still wasn't any hunters in sight. He had cameras on his computer, showing him exactly were the citizens and Terrors had ran off, so that he could give an updated location. It was a few minutes later that the noise had dimmed down because the citizen and Terror had left the area. Somebody radioed in and he answered with a new location. It was a few minutes later that he saw a few hunters run passed the window, it seemed safe to assume they were likely the ones going after the Terrors he had radioed in prior. He kept the cameras on his computer to wait and watch, mostly to keep an eye on the citizens to see if the medics needed to be called out or not. Being a scout was proving to be rather easy but his training was far from done.
As usual, the city was peaceful, with citizens of Lorsette merely walking along the streets and people bumping and greeting or apologizing each other. Cars simply pass by with loud engines resounding the area. But the real scenario -- the one Kaylie and Tristan as well as several unaffected ones are witnessing -- was the unsettling noise of screaming and Terrors all over the place.
[break][break]Honestly, these Terrors were getting annoying. If only Zeredah would just leave already and make everything go back to normal! Surely enough, though, after a few minutes, the sounds had dimmed down a bit and she could see people in uniforms running towards the cafe. Kaylie sighed and turned back to Tristan. Everything was probably back to normal, perhaps?
[break][break]Kaylie sighed, grabbing her shoulder bag and other books before opening the door. Her blue eyes widened when she saw the city's condition right now. People were running around, still screaming in horror, and smashed-up cars were brought down to the ground. She wasn't sure if letting go of the spell right now would lessen the costumer's panic; better off not withdrawing the spell unless it's all finished, then.
[break][break]The white-haired woman sighed and turned back to Tristan. "...Anything else I can do to help?" She found herself asking. Well, with the condition of the citizens right now, he and several others working with him might use some more help.
