Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

he finished the rest of his coffee and discarded the empty cup in a nearby trash bin. he had yet again left the house to explore. it was becoming a bit boring staying cooped up in the house. sure, he could of taken his car, but it felt like he had driven for a hundred years. besides a little walking never hurt anyone. he hummed to himself as he continued his walk. of course he wasn't walking around blindly. he had done some research and looked up certain places he wanted to visit. he looked at his phone, the instructions he had copied where there.
he had taken a wrong turn. of course it wasn't because of the instructions. he had been a bit distracted and had continued walking instead of turning left. there was more than one way to get to the library. hopefully, he didn't have to turn around or something. he looked up from his phone and sighed softly. he finally made it.

[attr="class","bogplotword"]The day went by as normally as usual. There she was, still arranging some books that need to be stacked back up the shelves. Some people don't really know how to return the books back to their original place, she observed. Well, she was still the assistant librarian anyway, and arranging books was one of her jobs.
[break][break]A thought suddenly occurred to her while she was putting the books away. She had heard from Zoraya that there was an elementary teacher coming over with his students to read some stories, and she was also offered to read the stories to the eager children. If she was correct, the teacher and his students would be touring the library today, if she got her dates right...
[break][break]The door of the balcony creaked, as if someone had opened it. And someone did open it. A man was by the door, peering over. Kaylie turned her head with a smile. "Hello there!" She greeted the guest. The friendly smile still affixed her face.
[break][break]"May I help you with anything, sir?"

it seemed like he was caught. thought it wasn't like he was guilty of anything. just opening the door. he hadn't expected anyone to greet him right away. he gave the girl a smile and greeted her."oh, hello. i was just looking around."he figured it was better to just walk in, instead of just lingering by the door. the last thing he wanted to do was block the entrance.
his eyes took in the new environment. it was certainly a lot bigger than his old library."oh, i've actually just moved here. i guess i should get a library card."he said with a chuckle.

[attr="class","bogplotword"]Kaylie watched as the young man smiled back at her. She grinned and nodded before turning back to her arrangements. This book should be right here, while this book should be placed there... it was all just simple navigating arranging, at least that's what it is to Kaylie. Whatever book the young guy wanted, she was sure she could help him out.
[break][break]Then he said he was new here. Kaylie's eyes widened in surprise as she whipped her head to the man's direction. "Really? You're new here?" She exclaimed, then smiled warmly. A chuckle escaped her lips. "Haha, you're right. You do need a library card."
[break][break]Placing the books on the shelf in a stack on the floor, she walked up to the empty counter and grabbed a chair. "The head librarian is still asleep, so I should delegate her tasks for now." Grabbing a nameless card from under the shelf, she started to write something down the card. She then turned to the young mn and smiled. "Uh... you're name is, sir...?"

it seemed like he had caught them while they were putting books away. he had finally entered the library and let his eyes wander around before his feet started to move as well. he figured he'd poke about before getting his card. seeing as they were busy at the moment and he didn't mind waiting.
he spotted the kids section and it seemed to have a vast collection. he would definitively have to schedule a trip down here. he returned to the front desk after hearing the girl speak. he smiled and nodded."wonderful."he told her as he watched her fill something out. he chuckled softly."tobias everett."

[attr="class","bogplotword"]Kaylie hummed and nodded as she continued writing on the card. "Sir..." She glanced at the man in front of her and smiled. "...Tobias Everett." She repeated the name, then wrote again. "That's such a nice name."
[break][break]She gasped when she noticed his posture. "Ah, please, do sit down!" She offered him a seat from nearby, then stood up herself to laminate the card. "Can you wait for a few more minutes? I've got to laminate your library card first before anything else." She explained to him, before walking up to the office. "You can mess around with the books if you like."

once she had called out to him he was quick to return. He signed the things she needed him to sign. He blushed slightly at her words."thank you. You have a lovely name as well."he said as he looked at her name tag which read kaylie. He chuckled softly and did as he was told."I'll be here when you get back. I promise."he told her with a smile. He wandered a bit before grabbing a magazine and having a seat. He flipped through it while he waited. He was in no rush. The magazine he had picked up listed various books that should be read or books that would be coming out soon.

[attr="class","bogplotword"]The white-haired maiden nodded to Tobias with a smile, signalling a 'your welcome' for the compliment on his name. She then walked out of the counter and disappeared into Zoraya's office, messing around with the laminating machine until she could get the card laminated just right.
[break][break]She came out of the office a few minutes later, waving the laminated card in between her fingers. "Your library card, sir Everett," She called out to the man, standing at the reception desk and sliding the card over to him. "It's done."
[break][break]She then noticed him reading a magazine, listing the books that should be read and the up-coming ones. A small smirk formed on her face as she stood up again, rummaging through the papers. Perhaps chatting a little wouldn't hurt.
[break][break]"So, Sir Everett," She began, sitting on a chair and staring at the man with curiosity. "What brought you here to the library in the first place? Do you have an appointment with the head librarian?"
[attr="class","bogplotpbpic"]
[attr="class","bogplotnamebar"]19 * human, witch * single * @tobi * App
tobi had kept himself occupied with a magazine while the librarian had gone to laminate his card. he chuckled softly as she called out to him. it seemed like his card was complete. he returned to the desk, magazine in hand."thank you."tobias said as he pulled out his wallet from his back pocket and slid the card inside.
he was in no hurry to leave the library now that he had found it. he chuckled once more."sorry, you can call me tobi if you'd like. sir everett makes me sound like a knight or something."he rambled on with a smile."well, im new around here. i wanted to get accustom to my surroundings."he told her with a nod.
"im also a teacher. i don't start teaching till next school year though. i just graduated with my degree, but i have plenty of experience. i mean otherwise i wouldn't of been hired. i had a really good internship....i'm rambling...sorry."tobi said as he felt his cheeks start to get a bit warm.
he cleared his throat and figured he would start again."no, i don't have an appointment. should i? i mean now that im here i do have a question. maybe you can answer it?"he said almost forgetting to ask his question."is it possible to schedule a visit. with my classroom? i mean school won't start till september and that's months away..."there he went rambling once more.

[attr="class","bogplotchargif"]
[attr="class","bogplotword"]Kaylie listened to the young man as he explained half the reason why he was here the first place. The librarian chuckled to herself for her own idiocy. "Haha, figures. Of course you would always wind up everywhere when you're still new here." She mumbled, shaking her head to herself with a smile. "I mean, I felt lost the first time I got here, but I woke up in the library -- here, so..."
[break][break]Realizing she was rambling, she coughed and tried to focus on the next thing he was about to say. A teacher? Now that would be interesting. "Wow. We really need teachers here for the kiddos. I think you would be a good addition to the local schools here. They need new teachers, you see." She told him, then giggled softly once he said he wouldn't be teaching until the arriving school year. "Don't worry. Once you start teaching, I'm sure you'll be great."
[break][break]Then Tobias seems doubtful about whether or not he does have an appointment in the library, before finally asking if she could answer his question. "Sure thing. Hit me up." Then Tobi tells her if he could bring in a couple of students that he would soon have in the following school year to the library. Kaylie grinned and nodded enthusiastically. "Sure thing! You're always welcome to have your students over here if you want."
[attr="class","bogplotpbpic"]
[attr="class","bogplotnamebar"]19 * human, witch * single * @tobi * App
he could feel the warmness in his cheeks return."right."he said nodding. he wondered where she was from. if even she was a newcomer at one point. it took him a bit to process what she had just said."you woke up here...?"he looked at her a bit puzzled. clearly he was curious."did you walk in and fall asleep reading a book?"he asked with a small laugh.
"sorry, that's just...unusual situation. im not making fun i promise."he told her with a smile. eventually the conversation shifted to his new job. he nodded at her words, he had noticed there was a couple of job postings. he hadn't found it odd at all. he figured maybe people were retiring.
two birds one stone. though the idea about bring the kids here didn't occur to him till a few seconds ago."wonderful. it will most definitively be towards the end of september. once the students are settled in, permission slips are handed out, chaperones are acquired."it would be one big disaster if he thought about bring all twenty five kids by himself.

[attr="class","bogplotword"]The white-haired woman chuckles slightly when he inquired if she really woke up here, or how she hit her head or something. "Haha, no. I kinda... ran away from home." She stated, then suddenly the past began to rush her like wildfire. She decided not to talk about it as she didn't want someone else to get inside her personal space. "When I woke up, I was sleeping in a bedroom located here. Someone must've taken me in while I was unconscious."
[break][break]Kaylie nodded and patted Tobias in the shoulder. "No, no, it's okay. It seemed really hilarious that I just woke up in here, either way."
[break][break]Then they switched into another discussion, Kaylie smiling brightly at the mention of the kids coming in September. "Great! I can't wait for that visitation to happen." She said excitedly, softly clapping her hands. "And you're right. Although some adults probably don't spend their recreational time reading books in the library..."
[break][break]She then exits the counter and walks up to one of the shelves, the picks a handful of books. She then sets them on the table in which Tobias was sitting earlier. "Well, since you're already here, do you want to read books together with me?" She asked, tilting her head.
[break][break]Well, it's not everyday that she would read books with other people before.
[attr="class","bogplotpbpic"]
[attr="class","bogplotnamebar"]19 * human, witch * single * @tobi * App
oh man did he mess up now. he wasn't the type to push information out of anyone and he could clearly see this whole conversation was a getting a bit too personal. not everyone had a boring childhood. she must of had her reasons for running away. he wasn't going to press the issue any further. he simply nodded in return. she didn't have to explain herself to him. he was nothing more than just a stranger.
he nodded once more."well, glad to know you were safe and taken care of."he said with a smile."sorry, once more. i didn't mean to bring up the past."he told her softly.
that was that and then they switched gears. it was alright with him. he never knew what to say when it was time to give someone comfort. the most he could do was listen or be a shoulder to cry on. his mind was still stuck on that topic for a second. he smiled at her words."i'll be sure to give you a call or send an email when he time has come."he told her with a nod.
he chuckled softly."the ones that do are the special ones though."he said with a small laugh. he made sure he had all his things back in his pocket. she had started picking up books from the shelves and sat down."sure. what do you recommend?"he asked walking over and taking the seat across from her."with the sudden move, i haven't really had time to start anything. though i have been wanting to read a good mystery."he told her with a nod.
She heard him apologize to her again, saying he didn't want to bring up the past. She simply nodded and waved a hand in front of her. "I told you, it's fine." She said with a small smile.
[break][break]
She was glad Tobias knew how to respect others' privacy.
[break][break]
Tobias then told her that he would send her a mail or call her when the right time comes. This statement made her quite excited about the coming event. She wanted to see the children, but that would have to wait for later. "Goodie, goodie," She cooed, a small grin displayed in her face. "For some reason, I'm very excited to see the kids."
[break][break]
They switched to the topic about books shortly after. Kaylie sat parallel to the seat Tobias was situated on. She then picked out a random fantasy book from the stack she had gathered a while earlier for her to read. "I recommend this," She held out the book she was reading when he asked her what she would recommend to him. "It's such a nice and descriptive book. It also has a very nice lore which you can keep up with, too. Though this was pretty much known for overarching plots."
[break][break]
Tobias then mentioned that he does want to read a good mystery. Kaylie smiled brightly and started fidgeting through the stack of books to search for a particular mystery novel. "Yes, I also pretty much like mysteries myself... oh! I guarantee you'll like this." She set the book in front of him and nodded. "This thing is totally a page-turner. You should read it sometime."
he still felt bad. even with him family wasn't a subject he liked to linger on too much. it wasn't because his family was bad or anything, it was more having to explain why his family is the way it is. it isn't everyday your dad leaves behind his old family to start a new one. he was rather glad there was no conflicts with his half brother. though he had to admit at first tobias had been weary of the older boy. he would only seem him when he wasn't his mother. he eventually nodded and they changed topics.
he chuckled."well i'll make sure you have a good time too. nothing worse than going to a classroom and being bored the entire time."he said with nod.
he made himself comfortable and took the book she had first picked out. he started to read through the synopsis while she explained the book as well. it wasn't something he usually read, but he wasn't going to turn down a recommendation. he would at least give it a try. he nodded and his like of mysteries. the more twist and turns the better. there was nothing worse than figuring out who the culprit was before even finishing chapter one. he set the book down and picked up the mystery one. he read the inside flap and nodded to himself. it sounded fairly interesting."i'll check both out, but you know i'll start with the mystery first."he said with a smile.
